New England College company history timeline

1946

In 1946 New England College welcomed its first class of 67 men and one woman.

1972

David P. Currier, a former trustee of the College and a member of the Class of 1972, provided a major gift to create a welcoming gathering place for all alumni of the College.

1973

The Greenhouse was constructed by NEC students and completed in 1973.

1978

The College of Osteopathic Medicine was opened on the campus of St Francis and the two became the University of New England in 1978.

1980

Western New England's first history, Western New England College: A Calling to Fulfill, written by Doctor Beaumont A. Herman, President Emeritus, published in 1980.

1993

New leadership in the ‘90s led to an unprecedented growth in campus facilities with the construction of the Simon Center in 1993, and in student enrollment.

2000

Bio Inez McDermott has been a professor of Art History at NEC since 2000.

2001

A state‐of‐the‐art teaching facility, the Center for Educational Innovation, opened in 2001, and a new art gallery, theater, and fitness center were brought online during this period.

2014

When she is not teaching at NEC, Kyrie spends her time teaching dance at Miss Kelsey’s Dance Studio, where she has taught since 2014.

2019

She also had the opportunity to act as the International Studies Association program chair assistant for the 2019 annual conference, where she assisted in organizing a conference program of over 3,000 attendees.
