The Construction Materials segment is involved in the production of aggregates, including crushed stone, and construction sand and gravel; hot mix asphalt; and ready mixed concrete products. This segment also operates transportation facilities for bulk cargo storage, railroad transportation, and other transportation and distribution at the Port of Buffalo. The Heavy/Highway Construction segment engages in grading, drainage, paving, structure work, civil engineering, and project management activities for large heavy/highway projects; and bridgework, roadway patching, and blacktop paving for private and non-residential blacktop paving projects or small- and mid-size maintenance projects. This segment also offers gas and fiber optic line installation and repair services. The Traffic Safety Services and Equipment segment manufactures, sells, and installs traffic control devices, including traffic cones, plastic drums, channelizers, barricades, arrow boards, crash attenuators, construction/permanent signs and posts, message boards, speed awareness monitors, and strobe/warning lights. This segment also provides intelligent transportation systems equipment and computerized highway information processing system comprising queue detectors, over-height vehicle detectors, flooded roadway detectors, trailer mounted cameras, and variable speed limits systems, as well as engages in the leasing and servicing of general and specialty traffic control, and work zone safety equipment and devices.
