Job Summary Mental Health Resource Center is looking for a Utilization Management Reviewer to monitor the utilization of clinical services provided at Mental Health Resource Center (MHRC), using predetermined criteria, review of medical records, and regular participation in treatment team meetings. The crisis stabilization units provide services for adults, adolescents, and children. Most patients are admitted involuntarily to the facility via the Baker Act, the mental health act of Florida. The normal length of stay on the unit for patients is typically 3-5 days. Due to the types of services provided, crisis stabilization units are a fast paced working environment and present employees with challenging and rewarding opportunities. Employees work together and support one another in a friendly, team oriented atmosphere. Responsibilities Reviews medical records and attends treatment team meetings to review utilization of resources and the level of care provided. Ensures utilization and level of care are appropriate based on the diagnosis, needs, age and culture of the individual. Carries out appropriate telephone and written communication with insurers and third party payers regarding referrals, admissions, medication changes, discharges and changes in level of care. Maintains all supplies related to giving injections (e.g., meds, syringes, etc.) Receives logs and stocks sample and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) medications and prepares medication as needed for doctor. Stores vials and injection supplies. Ensures that all medications are labeled correctly and that the medication room is kept organized. Provides medication administration services at satellite locations when requested. Assesses and monitors for risk, symptoms of trauma, and indications of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. Uses appropriate reporting mechanisms. Documentation and Reporting: Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate clinical records. Accurately documents medication given and injection site; enters visit on contact sheet, completes progress note, and enters billing onto service log. Documents all required information, including significant verbalizations, side effects, unusual events, observed behaviors, hygiene, etc. on the progress note. As needed, gives immediate report to the Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, Supervisor, Program Manager. Obtains consents and releases of information when indicated. Must demonstrate proficiency in MHRC EHR System within three months of employment. Valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing in the State of Florida required. Job Summary This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a team atmosphere and is dedicated to providing both behavioral health care and social services to the individuals we serve in the community. The FACT Program is a multi-disciplinary, clinical team that assumes responsibility for directly providing needed treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to adult persons with severe and persistent mental illness promoting recovery, empowerment, self-determination, and decision-making for each FACT participant. Some of the responsibilities of the FACT team include providing clinical and supportive services through advocacy, crisis intervention, assessments, evaluations, treatment planning, case management, and medication management. Participants are also provided with community referrals, symptom education, work-related vocational and educational services, social and interpersonal relationship training, and support for the participants families and caregivers. Most of a FACT team member's day is spent in the community completing many of the above duties. Only about 15% of their time is spent in the office. Company vehicles are available, however, members of the FACT team also need to use their personal vehicles to provide services and are eligible for reimbursement for mileage. The FACT team operates both during and after normal business hours, rotates holiday and weekend responsibilities, and team members rotate carrying an emergency on-call cell phone. The FACT Licensed Practical Nurse position requires individual and group interaction with persons who have a serious and persistent mental illness in their home environment, a closed office, hospital, nursing home, and/or locked unit. The FACT Licensed Practical Nurse needs to be able to make sound decisions independently on a daily basis, including but not limited to recognizing emergencies and life-threatening situations and responding appropriately.
