NJM Insurance Group, originally known as New Jersey Manufacturers Casualty Insurance Company, formed as a workers’ compensation insurance company on June 7, 1913, shortly after New Jersey passed the Workmen’s Compensation Act.
1913 - New Jersey Manufacturers Casualty Insurance Company is founded to fulfill President Woodrow Wilson's campaign pledge to provide injured workers with medical care and partial wage replacement.
In 1921, NJM began providing insurance for property loss, commercial auto accidents, private automobiles, and homes.
By 1922, the Company was the largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance in New Jersey.
1965 - NJM begins offering workers' compensation insurance in New York and Pennsylvania.
NJM’s main office has been in West Trenton, New Jersey since 1966.
1996 - NJM becomes the first workers' compensation insurer in New Jersey to be state-certified as its own Managed Care Organization (MCO), providing medical evaluation, case management, claim adjustment and, when appropriate, modified return-to-work programs.
The southern New Jersey branch opened in Hammonton in 2000.
2013 - 100 years young! NJM launches its Teen Driver Safety Program and a year-long "DNT TXT N DRV" pledge campaign.
In 2015, American soccer player and long-time NJM policyholder Carli Lloyd was announced as NJM's spokesperson.
2016 - NJM announces creation of NJM Claims Management Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary established to provide third party administrative services to companies that self-insure for workers' compensation coverage.
2017 - NJM announces the expansion of its Teen Driver Safety Program to include "Share the Keys," a nationally recognized program that encourages parental involvement in the teen licensing process.
In 2018, NJM expanded its services to Pennsylvania residents.
2020 - NJM begins offering its personal auto, home, condo, renters, and umbrella insurance products to Connecticut residents.
2021 - NJM begins offering its personal auto, home, condo, renters, and umbrella insurance products to Ohio and Maryland residents.
J.D. Power 2021 Auto Claims Certification Program℠ recognition is based on successful completion of an audit, exceeding a customer experience benchmark through a survey of recent claims servicing interactions, and a Financial Strength rating.
2022 - NJM becomes the "Total Account Solution" for businesses with the introduction of ProPack Commercial Package Policy.
