About this Role:

The Manager, New Product Development is the driving force in turning proof of concept commercial research & development projects into tangible market-ready products. This position requires robust financial analysis skills, understanding of the bid and proposal process, and strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate would be comfortable leading cross-functional teams of program managers, engineers and sales personnel and be able to interact easily with upper management. The Manager, New Product Development is responsible for ensuring current IRAD projects are completed on time, within budget, and produce meaningful, marketable commercial products. This individual must have desire and demonstrated ability to assess the competitive landscape, determine price-to-win and go-to-market strategies, as well as the managerial courage to stop or eliminate a project when driven by changes in market or other strategic reasons.

Summary

* Oversee, facilitate, & execute the discretionary portfolio of IRAD, B&P, demo, and Pre-proposal
* Oversee & enhance sales processes to include advertising, export licensing, and market analyses
* Create, update & apply proposal content to maximize proposal efficiency
* Create, organize & maintain catalog pricing and commerciality justifications

Position Responsibilities:

* Track and manage IRAD budgets and requirements for all commercial projects/products.
* Track and manage bid and proposal budget activities.
* Create and revise commercial product catalog on a semi-annual basis.
* Maintain records and create support justification for commercial items for all Electronic Systems and GEO products.
* Facilitate consistent, organization-wide sharing of knowledge (through written reports, charts and graphs, electronic business intelligence support tools, and oral and visual presentations, etc.) on the competition, market trends, and various findings.
* Establish, organize, and continuously update a database of competitor products and research for access by leadership.
* Develop a broad and deep understanding of Electronic Systems & competitor product capability in order to inform strategies and business planning processes.
* Fill the role as the Competitive Assessment and Price-to-Win Subject Matter Expert for a specific product opportunity as assigned.
* Work with Finance to use cost modeling tools that effectively capture key information that leads to devising and recommending bidding strategies and Price-To-Win. recommendations to effectively compete against competitor's predicted proposed pricing.

Purpose:

This individual acts as the primary liaison between program management, engineering, production and Supply Chain Management (SCM) functions throughout the company. This position is responsible for the timely management and procurement of raw materials, fixtures, tools, MRO items and services within established cost, quality and delivery guidelines as it relates to quoting new projects and bringing new projects into production. A new project is taken from quote to the FAI stage the BOM will then be loaded into SAP where the buyers take over SCM responsibility.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the SCM function for the program and BOM from quote through FAI stage
• Determines expected lead time and develops a schedule with critical milestones while providing regular report-outs to ensure suppliers meets all schedule requirements
• Provides direction regarding print/design review, technical publication interpretation, source selection, price, and terms negotiation for new products
• Accepts and scrutinizes supplier quotes and/or proposals and ensures competitive cost and lead times
• Leads robust programmatic material cost reduction efforts to meet organizational goals on gross margin and quote win rate
• Selects/develops sources based upon analysis, ensuring the use of preferred suppliers as directed by the strategic commodity management team
• Monitors short and long term material requirements, develops and implements effective plans to ensure material availability and capacity at selected suppliers
• Performs thorough analysis of all outside processing for the company as well as sub suppliers
• Involves suppliers early in design process to optimize design and reduce cost
• Works closely with engineering to optimize Company s design for value initiatives
• Participates in and supports make/buy analysis projects for new programs
