Job Summary
The program director is a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who demonstrates an understanding of education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapist assistant education.
Nature of Work
The program director provides effective leadership for the program including, but not limited to, responsibility for communication, program assessment and planning, fiscal management, and faculty evaluation. This position also requires adherence and documentation for the accreditation standards for this program.
Distinguishing Characteristics

The successful candidate will deliver theory, range, and behind the wheel (BTW) instruction, ensuring compliance with FMCSA 49 Part 380, Subpart F instructor qualification standards.
This position also serves as a lead instructor/coordinator, supporting FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) compliance, assisting with curriculum development, ensuring training vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, building industry partnerships, mentoring adjunct CDL instructors and coordinating audits and documentation.

Develops, prepares and coordinates implementation for new policy, practices and procedures.

Analyzes award documents for requirements and ensures awareness of reporting requirements, indirect costs, terms and conditions, restrictions, etc. Communicates such requirement to college employees.
Communicates with departments to ensure award budget, account lines, personnel, indirect costs, are established. Provides continued oversight needed to implement the award as agreed between the agency and the College.
Provides training and guidance to employees on issues pertaining to the management of sponsored program activities and requirements.
Maintains database of awards, program reporting requirements, closed out procedures and ensures award documents are maintained.

Under the supervision of the Program Director and the Division Chair, and the direction of the Vice President for Learning and the President of the College, faculty perform the following duties for their respective programs or disciplines, and the College:
* Follow the rules and regulations of the College.
* Develop a syllabus for each course taught. Submit each syllabus electronically to the Division Chair by the first day of class. Follow the College guidelines for syllabus construction.
* Maintain a workload of 30 load hours or 600 (Health Sciences) contact hours during day and/or evening per academic year. The Division Chair and/or Provost may make adjustments as necessary.
* Meet classes and provide instruction for classes as scheduled.
* Maintain a minimum of five (5) office hours per week. During the first week faculty return in the fall and spring semester AND the first two weeks of registration fall and spring, maintain ten (10) office hours during the week for advising. The Faculty Teaching and Office Schedule Form must be completed and filed with the VPL within the first week of classes
* Report first week attendance and final grades at the end of the term via NOW and within established deadlines.
* Advise students in her/his program(s) which may include:
* academic counseling
* aid in scheduling courses
* withdrawal/retention counseling
* career guidance and preparation.
* Participate in commencement ceremonies.
* Assist the Program Director and/or Division Chair with preparation of the program review, annual report, part-time faculty evaluations, self-study reports for accreditation, course and program assessment reports, and other reports and projects associated with the program.
* Assist the Program Director and/or Division Chair in the maintenance of equipment and in the recommendations for the purchase of equipment.
* Assist the Program Director and/or Division Chair in preparing semester schedules.

* Post a detailed syllabus in the class using the standard template and location in the course.
* Post grades for all gradable items in the grade book within 1 week of the due date.
