Responsibilities
is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety for assigned facilities.
Collects and disposes of all types of waste including regular, recyclable and medical and operates compactor equipment.
Sweeps, mops, dusts, strips, spray buffs and waxes all flooring surfaces, and vacuums, deodorizes, and shampoos all carpeted surfaces.
Cleans and sanitizes all sinks, toilets, stalls, urinals, mirrors, waste receptacles and office furniture and replenishes restroom and cafeteria supplies.
Cleans, dusts, and sanitizes walls, windows, ceilings, lighting fixtures, pipes, waste containers, and other surfaces as necessary.
Provides cafeteria/meetings services to include set-up and clean-up, maintenance of coffee equipment, general cleanliness of the cafeteria, and ordering/stocking of cafeteria/meeting supplies.
Performs relief responsibilities including but not limited to security function.
Removes snow and debris from walkways and salts as necessary.
Assists in the packing of freezers with dry ice in the event of freezer problems.
Attend safety and training meetings as required.
Perform other maintenance duties as required.

Responsibilities
The Working Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the Head of LARS with the oversight and management of the Laboratory Animal Research Service (LARS) vivarium at the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI). This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the vivarium, including conducting room rounds; maintaining regular communication with scientists, veterinarians, and the Head of LARS regarding daily care; administering treatments prescribed by clinical veterinarians and/or the Head of LARS; monitoring and documenting all health assessments, treatments, and follow-up care; participating in training initiatives; actively participating in quarterly sentinel health screenings; and providing coverage for husbandry technicians as needed. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned, such as specific vivarium room round duties and other departmental needs.
The Working Supervisor also serves as a key individual responsible for conducting researcher compliance follow-up training and hands-on instruction in relevant policies, procedures, and techniques, as well as administering assessments to measure the effectiveness of training efforts. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining the LFKRI autoclave and glassware area and for providing services and hands-on training to LARS and LFKRI staff on the proper use of the autoclave and glasswasher.
Primary Functions
Ensure daily activities required for Animal Facility operations are properly and efficiently conducted in compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and accrediting agency guidelines (e.g., AAALAC, OLAW, USDA, etc.).
Schedule and coordinate department training and practice after initial training with the Head of LARS, including emergency preparedness training which will provide essential tools to develop proficiencies.
Trains new LARS/Research members and provides working supervision to junior staff.
Assist and Maintains records of training.
Provide for the care of laboratory animals in a humane, safe and sanitary manner.

The Division is at the forefront of research, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases, including HIV, COVID-19, emerging pathogens, opportunistic infections, and viral hepatitis. The faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases provides consultation on both inpatient and outpatient service areas, offering expert guidance on the diagnosis and management of bacterial, fungal, mycobacterial, parasitic, and viral infections, as well as preventive services such as travel medicine and pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV. The Division of Infectious Diseases provides care to persons with HIV at the Institute for Advanced Medicine (IAM). IAM has four clinical sites with subspecialty practices for those who are underserved or have specialized needs. Specialized needs groups include persons with HIV, members of the LGBTQ+ community, victims of domestic violence, and recently incarcerated men and women who are transitioning to life on their own.
The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of understanding, monitoring, and responding to novel and re-emerging pathogens, and the Division is prioritizing this work across several areas. For example, in collaboration with Mount Sinai's Department of Genetics and Genomics, our Infectious Disease researchers utilize genomics to understand how hospital infections are acquired, transmitted, identified, and treated. In collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, scientists are working on new diagnostics and therapeutic interventions, such as antibody therapies and vaccines. It is expected that the System Chief will foster such collaborations to continue to grow the research portfolio.

The System Chief of Infectious Diseases' responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Overall management of the System Division of Infectious Diseases across the Mount Sinai Health System (on-campus sites at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Downtown/Union Square, Mount Sinai Morningside, and Mount Sinai West; and off-campus ambulatory sites). Dr. Monica Kraft is the Murray M. Rosenberg Professor of Medicine and System Chair for the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
In this role, Dr. Kraft oversees all clinical, research, and educational programs within the 14 divisions of Mount Sinai's largest academic department with more than 2,000 faculty members, trainees, and staff and $154 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding.
Dr. Kraft is an outstanding scientist and medical leader who is internationally renowned for her work in asthma and airway disease. She is also an accomplished and sought-after clinician caring for patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and complex airway disease, and receives statewide and national referrals.
She was previously on the faculty of the University of Arizona, where she was the Robert and Irene Flinn Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Director of the Asthma and Airways Disease Research Center. Previously, she was Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine; the Charles Johnson Distinguished Professor; and Director of the Asthma, Allergy and Airway Center at Duke University.
Dr. Kraft received her MD from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she was also Chief Resident. Dr. Kraft completed her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado and joined the faculty as the Director of the Carl and Hazel Felt Laboratory for Adult Asthma Research and as Medical Director of the Pulmonary Physiology Unit at National Jewish Health.
Dr. Kraft has published extensively in the areas of adult asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has been funded by the NIH continuously for more than 25 years. Dr. Kraft's research on the mechanisms of inflammation and innate immunity have changed concepts in airway biology, asthma treatment guidelines, and precision medicine. Her work in precision medicine has resulted in her leadership for the NIH All of Us grant at the University of Arizona and recognition as the Arizona Bioreseacher of the Year.
Dr. Kraft is the author or co-author of more than 240 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, reviews, and book chapters.
