Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Pain Management

In This Role, You Will:
Perform detailed patient histories, focusing on pain and prior treatments.
Conduct comprehensive physical examinations to establish accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Review and interpret diagnostic imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) to support clinical decision-making.
Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care and counsel them on pain management strategies.
Assist with and perform office-based procedures, including trigger point injections, intrathecal pump refills, Botox injections, and joint injections (training provided if needed).
Triage patients appropriately, manage provider inbox messages, and respond to patient calls.
Stay current with advancements in interventional pain management through CME, webinars, and educational sessions.
Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure seamless, team-based care.
We Require:
Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
Prior NP/PA experience preferred.
Background in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, or spine preferred.
Strong communication and patient education skills.
Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care.

Medical Assistant (Pain Practice)

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information is recorded, including vital signs, medical history, and patient concerns.
Venipuncture & Specimen Collection: Perform blood draws, urine dipsticks, stool collection, and rapid tests such as Strep, Flu, COVID, and RSV, ensuring proper labeling and handling of all specimens.
Diagnostic Testing: Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing, and assist in other diagnostic procedures under the direct supervision of a Physician or APP.
Clinical Assistance: Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits and procedures, and assist providers during physical exams and in-office treatments.
Instrument Sterilization: Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and instruments to ensure patient safety and infection control.
Laboratory Support: Operate and maintain lab equipment such as CBC analyzers and urinalysis machines; prepare, process, and store specimens appropriately (room temp, refrigerated, or frozen).
Quality Control: Run and document various lab tests including glucose monitoring, PT/INR, urine pregnancy, and fecal occult blood; conduct and troubleshoot quality control procedures and report critical values.
Electronic Documentation: Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to enter, verify, and manage lab orders and clinical data.
Reference Lab Coordination: Package and send out specimens to external labs such as Labcorp and Quest, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Communication & Teamwork: Maintain professional communication with providers, staff, and patients, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Multi-Site Flexibility: Adapt to workflow changes and provide support across multiple NYH locations as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Medical Assistant Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
At least 1 year of relevant experience in outpatient care or lab settings
Proficient in EMR/LIS systems (e.g., LABDAQ)
Reliable transportation to travel between NYH locations
