Ted Mathas is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of New York Life Insurance Company, the nation’s largest mutual life insurer with more than $500 billion in assets under management. The core business includes life insurance, retirement income, investment management, and long-term care insurance. New York Life is the leading provider of life insurance and income annuities in the U.S.

Mr. Mathas became Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2008, and was named Chairman of the Board of Directors on June 1, 2009. He joined New York Life in 1995 and previously served as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, in addition to holding senior management positions in New York Life’s life insurance and annuity businesses and Agency Department. Mr. Mathas has been a director of the Company since July 2006. He was appointed to New York Life’s Executive Management Committee in June 2002.

Mr. Mathas serves on the Executive Committee of the American Council of Life Insurers, as well as the Boards of the American Museum of Natural History and the Partnership for New York City.
