Newberry County Memorial Hospital company history timeline
Thus it was a moment of great community pride when Newberry County Hospital formally opened its doors on December 22, 1925.
1925: December 22nd, Newberry County Hospital on Hunt Street dedicated.
In 1937, the African-American community demonstrated these same qualities of community pride, self-reliance, and commitment to purpose in establishing the second hospital.
1950: May 30th, hospital renamed Newberry County Memorial Hospital in honor of the men and women who served in World War II.
1963: North wing added.
1976: May 9th, Kinard Street building dedicated.
1999: December 13th, the ground-breaking ceremony for $13.4 million renovations and construction project.
Completed in 2002, the project completely changed the first floor, making it a patient-friendly outpatient services mall.
2003: May 1st, third-floor renovations completed.
A satellite office was opened in Little Mountain in 2003.
2004: August 19th, New Beginnings birth center project completed.
In 2006, another major renovation and expansion began.
These expansions and improvements were completed and celebrated on June 26, 2007.
2007: June 26th, second Penny Sales Tax Initiative completed.
Completed in 2008, the Atrium Center includes a new and expanded Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, a 1.5 Tesla MRI, and five physicians' offices.
To complete the availability of local oncology care, Newberry Oncology Associates opened in 2008.
2009: In the Spring, the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center opens, offering advanced treatment for slow-to-heal wounds.
2010: In the winter, advanced digital mammography is added to a growing list of women’s services.
