Though it has had its flaws and fair share of disagreeable people, it gets most things right. I have encountered a slew of wonderful people there. They promote within. It’s a healthy environment in that many of the people working there bring on their kids, parents, spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends, cousins, brothers, sisters and so forth. I have never worked at a place where you get to witness co-workers getting married, having children, etc (this is many couples). I’ve seen multiple pregnant women working together without fear of being let go. They LISTEN to their employees from the bottom up. There is an overall culture of resolution-minded helpfulness, as it’s in the work they do every day, and spills out into co-worker interaction. We get free food on mandatory overtime days and holidays, (but holidays are off so we get free food the day before.)
The training may have upgraded in recent years, it’s been awhile, but I would say it was awful when I got hired. They spend weeks rushing through an UNBELIEVABLE amount of information for daily operations, and give you very little time of field training on calls, before they throw you on the floor where customers scream in your ear about getting their refund. It’s an unbelievable amount of processes to know about, making the first 4 - 6 months insanely stressful. I have seen people break down crying, march out of the building, etc. The QA agents in my day were grossly overbearing. I seriously would have quit from the stress levels if it hadn’t been for my then boyfriend encouraging me and helping me, since I had waited long for a full time job and really needed the money. After 4 -6 months, the job got a lot easier for me, though it’s still a tough job dealing with the customers. Though there are a fair share of pleasant customers, I seriously think this place has the rudest customers of all time, and the customer would have to do something unbelievably awful to get suspended. Agents get cussed at weekly. Many customers try to abuse the system and harass agents for courtesy credits. Some customers harass agents with sexist or even racist remarks. I know none of this is the company’s fault, but it doesn’t seem like there’s anything in place to discourage nastiness on the customers end.
