In 1968, Marvin Miller along with Marvin Newcomer, who had worked for Mr.
In 1969 The Hitch House started its retail operations selling travel trailers and related RV products.
Their shared goal was to build and sell the best-quality recreational vehicles the world had ever seen, a mission that began with the 1971 Kountry Aire fifth-wheel travel trailer.
In 1990, the company introduced two iconic coaches that still exist today – Dutch Star and Mountain Aire.
In 1991, Mahlon Miller purchased the remaining 49% of Newmar Corporation.
By 1991 The Hitch House made the strategic decision to specialize strictly in Motorhomes.
And in 2004, Newmar added one of the industry’s first and only air-conditioned production environments in the form of a 150,000-square-foot chassis prep and welding facility, in an effort to optimize the work environment for the company’s production employees.
In 2006, Mahlon Miller’s son Matt was named President of Newmar Corporation.
The relationship took several months to formalize and in September 2007, The Hitch House Motorhome Specialists officially became a Newmar dealer.
In 2012, Newmar made the strategic decision to exit the fifth-wheel category that had helped shape the company decades earlier, choosing to dedicate all of its resources to assembling the world’s finest Class A motor coaches.
In October 2014, The Hitch House and Newmar expanded their commitment to one another.
Winnebago, which is based in Iowa but has corporate offices in suburban Minneapolis, reported $2 billion in revenue in 2018.
The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of fiscal 2020, according to a release from Winnebago.
