The Job at a Glance
The Communications & Donor Stewardship Manager is Vital Communities' chief storyteller, responsible for developing and implementing a multi-channel communications and donor stewardship strategy that elevates Vital Communities' visibility, supports fundraising goals, and reflects our Strategic Compass. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Donor Stewardship Manager works closely with all staff and develops and maintains external relationships with relevant media.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
Develop and implement an integrated communications plan for multiple audiences, including the public, donors, partners, and media.
Lead strategy and content for Vital Communities' website, social media, print publications, and email marketing.
Work with program staff to craft communications for events and special initiatives.

Provides specialized child abuse forensic interviews, crisis assessment, support, information and referral, advocacy services, case management and other resource assistance to patients and their non-offending caregivers. Provides case coordination and follow up with families as well as extensive community based multidisciplinary team (MDT) including Child Protection, Law Enforcement, Medical, Prosecution, Mental Health and Crisis Center Advocates.
Responsibilities
* Provides specialized forensic interviews of child abuse cases referred to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
* Utilizing a coordinated team approach provides child/family safety assessments and psychosocial assessment of family systems.
* Provides crisis intervention/management, mediation, and de-escalation in high stress/emotion family situations.
* Coordinates community CAC response to child abuse cases referred to our center by Child Protection and/or Law Enforcement agencies to assess safety needs, abuse concerns, and ongoing family system needs.
* Assists and supports families in understanding child abuse dynamics, impact of trauma, and appropriate safety planning through our MDT response/approach.
* Provides direct referrals/linkage to community resources to include but not limited to trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, family support groups, specialized child abuse medical evaluations, and advocacy (crisis center and criminal justice.)
* Provides ongoing consultation, assessment, referral and coordination in cases of suspected child or dependent adult abuse or neglect, or other forms of domestic violence. Provides guidance/assistance in filing child abuse reports.
* Coordinate, facilitate and serve as team leader for monthly MDT case review meetings to enhance and develop each case presented
* Provide ongoing case management and support for families, as their case moves from intake at the CAC through the criminal justice system.
* Through collaboration and appropriate subpoenas - provide fact and/or expert testimony in the child protection and/or criminal court systems.
* Document necessary case information in the CAC case-tracking database.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a related field with five (5) years of experience required. Experience to include criminal justice with extensive experience working in the field of child abuse will be considered.
* Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or similar field preferred.
* Strong knowledge base and understanding of child abuse dynamics, child development, trauma, and family systems.
* Prior experience working with children and families whose lives have been impacted by child abuse/violence preferred.
* Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills.
* Ability to multi-task and handle ever changing schedule/environment.
* Time management and priority setting skills.
* Proven ability to deal with conflict resolution.

You will ensure that volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model and their role and responsibilities as a mentor.
You will communicate with the Youth Services Manager to have an individual needs assessment of mentees and will encourage communication and partnership between the community, support staff, and mentors.
You will ensure that volunteer mentors are provided with the resources and training to provide a high quality mentoring experience.
You will build a relationship with every volunteer mentor and mentee of the chapter being supported.
You will aim to bring your chapter to the next level. Ensuring mentors and mentees have an amazing experience, are well trained, and there is a 1:1 ratio of mentors and mentees, as well as strategic planning for chapter wellness (recruitment, preparation for mentees of graduating mentors, supporting compliance of youth documents and background checks, etc.)
The Experience of Service as a Mentor Coordinator:
Developing a relationship with and responding to the program's direction, the needs of the Youth Services Manager, and the campus mentoring programs will be critical to success.
Members should expect to serve for 10-15 hours a week in the later afternoon-evenings, some weekends, catering to the needs of the mentoring chapters you're supporting. At the start of your service, your regular schedule will be created and communicated with your team.
Evening times will regularly be spent in meetings with and conversing with volunteers and mentors, as well as conducting training.
You will be responsible for attending your chapter's weekly Village Mentoring program.
Communication with mentors and the regional office team occurs every week (or more frequently as circumstances may direct).
Mentor Coordinators are expected to attend a weekly experience/support meeting with the teams you are a part of.
Mentor coordinators should expect to serve for the entirety of the academic year.
Compensation and DREAM AmeriCorps Benefits:
Living Stipend provided to you in biweekly payments of $250.
Upon the completion of the service term, AmeriCorps members are eligible to receive the Segal Education Award, which can be used to pay education expenses or repay qualified student loans. $1565.08 for a 300 hour term.
As an AmeriCorps member at DREAM, you will have the additional support of a DREAM AmeriCorps Director to help you navigate your service term and apply for publicly funded programs.
DREAM is invested in your professional and personal development, and we hope to provide a variety of professional development opportunities throughout the service term.
