News producer job description

KABB/WOAI has an immediate opening for a creative Associate News Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the day-to-day production of our newscasts. This position will also work closely with News Producers, the Executive Producer and other newsroom members, as well as be trained to occasionally fill in for producers.
The ideal candidate will:

* Have solid news judgment
* Be a compelling writer
* Be able to multitask and manage time
* Be able to be in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
* Have strong communication skills and be able to troubleshoot

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

Nexstar Media Inc. has an immediate opening for a News Producer who brings creativity and innovative thinking to the role. The Producer will be responsible for newscasts airing on the newly formed duopoly in the Washington, DC Market #9 DMA. The Producer will work with newsroom leadership, anchors, production team and field crews to create strong and well-paced newscasts. Candidate must have a proven track record that demonstrates ownership and appropriate showcasing of big story coverage, breaking news and weather.

Washington, DC is the center for the nation's politics, but the market offers so much more. Requirements & Skills :

+ Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

+ Fluency in English

+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

+ Minimum two years' experience in news operations (Depending on market size)

+ Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

+ Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

+ Flexibility to work any shift

We're looking for a producer who can create informative, engaging & memorable newscasts . Our producers are more than show stackers - they are seeking out and producing impactful content. You must understand the importance of winning weather and owning the big story of the day. This position requires leadership and solid decision-making skills.
Responsibilities:

* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Create informative, engaging & memorable newscasts
* Write in a captivating, conversational, and concise style.
* Be able to control & monitor breaking news and weather situations.
* Develop original content ideas through social listening and independent sources.
* Research for facts and credibility.
* Use creative production techniques to enhance stories. Build graphics and use effectively in shows.
* Line-produce live newscast.
* Communicate with anchors/reporters, assignment desk, field crews, production team, and others to ensure execution of a high-quality newscast.
* Perform other tasks as needed.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:

* BA/BS in journalism, communications or related.
* Minimum of 1years' experience producing/line producing for newscasts, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered.
* Perform other tasks as required by Executive Producer & Senior Producer.
* Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook.
* Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred.
* Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time sensitive deadlines.
* Experience calmly handling live, breaking news situations, and changing events
* Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
* Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
* Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
