Climate Finance Reporter, E&E News
Arlington, VA
POLITICO's E&E News is looking for an ambitious reporter to join our Climate Finance team and explain how climate change is affecting the financial world.
This important beat focuses on the property insurance crisis that is unfolding nationwide as climate change intensifies the damage caused by floods, hurricanes and wildfires. The increasing cost and scarcity of insurance are driving up housing costs, forcing people to leave areas that are vulnerable to natural disaster.
A successful reporter will have an aptitude for digging through documents to find stories and for connecting with ordinary people to tell the stories. This is an enterprise beat that will lead to quick dailies, scoops and, ideally, investigative stories.
Coverage will focus on state insurance regulators, insurance companies and their public documents, industry groups and consumer advocates.
There is enormous opportunity on the beat. The report should strive to be the national leader on climate change, insurance and housing. Knowledge of Excel is helpful but not required.
In your application, please include a cover letter and no more than six clips, which should demonstrate a track record of scoops, enterprising reporting and illuminating writing.
We are driven by our values. We are relentless contributors, disruptors of the status quo, collaborators, talent cultivators and DEI stewards. Our culture is defined by grit, total integrity and a prioritization on innovation.
We value our people. Click here for more on what we offer and what it's like to work for POLITICO.
Let's keep in touch. You can view our list of open positions here and email us careers@politico.com. We hope to see your application soon!
