Executive Editor, Picture Books & Novelty, will identify, acquire, and develop high-quality and commercial picture books, board books, and novelty books for the Children's Book Group, under the direction of the Editorial Director, with a goal of fulfilling revenue growth and developing opportunities for IP exploitation across all divisions of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquire and edit 15-20 titles per year, focusing primarily on commercially-driven picture books and novelty. Proactively identify, evaluate, and pursue opportunities for new publishing and development/adaptation of existing IP.
Manage all stages of each title's print/digital lifecycle, including review of all passes; coordination with production, design, and freelancers; drafting of copy and metadata; and maintenance of reprints/backlist.

RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Acquire and edit 15-20 titles per year, focusing primarily on commercially-driven picture books and novelty. Proactively identify, evaluate, and pursue opportunities for new publishing and development/adaptation of existing IP.
+ Manage all stages of each title's print/digital lifecycle, including review of all passes; coordination with production, design, and freelancers; drafting of copy and metadata; and maintenance of reprints/backlist.
+ Collaborate cross-departmentally with marketing, publicity, sales, sub rights, and others. Work inter-divisionally with Scholastic Reading Events (Book Fairs) to maximize commercial opportunities and meet corporate business goals.
+ Establish and develop relationships with literary agents, author, illustrators, and other partners. Negotiate terms directly with agents, licensors, packagers, and international publishers.
+ Responsible for title-level P&L creation to meet profitability metrics for picture books.
+ Attend conferences and trade shows as needed and lead internal/external presentations.
