What You Will Do:
Assist with patient care under the direction of RNs/LPNs.
Support patients with activities of daily living and basic nursing procedures.
Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes promptly.
Serve as a valued member of the interdisciplinary care team.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED (completed or in progress).
Completion of a Patient Care Technician training course preferred.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) required (can be obtained upon hire).
PCT certification required within 120 days of hire on-the-job training available.

Participate in restorative nursing/therapy activities.
Report accidents, incidents, or concerns involving residents, staff, or visitors.
Work collaboratively with nursing and other team members to ensure optimal care delivery.

The physical demands required for this role include:
Standing, sitting, walking, and changing positions frequently.
Lifting up to 25 lbs and assisting with heavier lifting, utilizing proper techniques.
Pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs, including moving residents of 350lbs in wheelchairs.
Adhering to safety protocols, including the use of mechanical lifts and two-person lift procedures.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Valid CNA certification in the state of employment.
Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred, but not required.

Your Role as a CertifiedNurse Aide (CNA):
Skilled Nursing
This position may also be known as:
CertifiedNursingAssistant (CNA), CertifiedNurse Aide, NursingAssistant, or Caregiver, depending on experience and certification.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated CNA to join our team and provide essential care to our residents. The CNA plays a vital role in assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
What You'll Do:
Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Assist with transfers, lifting, and positioning residents as needed.
Observe and report changes in residents' conditions, documenting care provided.
Ensure a clean, homelike environment for residents.
Participate in restorative nursing/therapy activities.
Report accidents, incidents, or concerns involving residents, staff, or visitors.
Work collaboratively with nursing and other team members to ensure optimal care delivery.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and using required safety equipment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands required for this role include:
Standing, sitting, walking, and changing positions frequently.
Lifting up to 25 lbs and assisting with heavier lifting, utilizing proper techniques.
Pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs, including moving residents of 350lbs in wheelchairs.
Adhering to safety protocols, including the use of mechanical lifts and two-person lift procedures.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Valid CNA certification in the state of employment.
Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred, but not required.

Summary
The CertifiedNurse Aide (CNA) provides direct personal care and support to residents in accordance with individualized care plans, state regulations, and Americare standards. This role works closely with nursing and therapy teams to ensure residents receive high-quality, respectful, and person-centered care.

24HourNurse is offering Local or Travel CNA Contract Assignments at Kansas Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Hospitals CNA - must be licensed in Kansas Must be open to any shift. Rotation is 6 days on, 2 days off. Will get assigned shift during orientation. Mandation is possible. Shift times are: 10:45pm-6:45am; 6:45am-2:45pm; 2:45pm-10:45pm. Doubles are possible.
Length: 17 weeks for first contract (4 weeks orientation/training and 13 weeks independent), extensions may be up to 6 months.
Start dates are generally every other Monday. Orientation is about four weeks long and occurs during business hours. You can not miss any orientation.
Must live 50 mi or more from facility.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct daily care to residents of the psychiatric hospital facility
Monitor and report any health changes to LPN or RN
Monitor and document patient progress and vital signs
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
Must work the shift and unit assigned during orientation. The units include:
The Psychiatric Services Program (PSP) provides comprehensive mental and physical health care to persons from the 59 Kansas counties comprising the hospitals services area who are referred by their area mental health center, in accordance with the Kansas Mental Health Reform Act.
The State Security Program (also known in Kansas Statutes as the State Security Hospital) serves male and female adult mentally ill forensic populations from the entire state of Kansas, which are admitted through specific forensic statutes or transferred from the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) for treatment.
The Sexual Predator Treatment Program (SPTP) at Larned State Hospital was established by a 1994 statute that provides for the civil commitment of persons identified as Sexually Violent Predators (SVP). SPTP is charged with maintaining a secure environment in which individuals identified as SVPs can reside and be offered treatment with the aim of reducing their risk of re-offending. Ultimately, the goal of SPTP is to return SVPs to the community where they can function as contributing, productive citizens with no further victims.
Requirements:
Kansas CertifiedNursingAssistant license
Minimum of 3 mos of direct care experience in a behavioral health care setting such as LTC dementia/Alzheimer's unit, inpatient psychiatric setting, corrections, or memory care facility
Must pass a 10-panel drug screen and alcohol screen prior to start
Must pass criminal background check and adult/child protective services check. No felonies.
Valid Driver's license
Must receive a negative TB test or chest x-ray (we will provide)
