Follow me @epowell101 on twitter.I have helped conceptualize, fund, position, lead and scale a few eventually important enterprise infrastructure software companies which were acquired. Along the way I have invested in and advised a handful of companies.Currently I lead MayaData, where we enable the use of Kubernetes as a data layer and sponsor open source projects including the CNCF project OpenEBS and the LitmusChaos engineering project. Previously I helped conceptualize and build StackStorm, a DevOps workflow automation company, where I was co-founder and CEO. StackStorm was acquired and the project became a Linux Foundation project. Before StackStorm I was founding CEO of Nexenta Systems which defined and led the open storage and software defined storage space. As of when I joined StackStorm in Q3 2013, with over 250 Nexentians and a throw weight (sales plus partner sales) of over $400 million, Nexenta is a force in storage. Previously I co-founded Clarus Systems, the leading provider of IP communications management software for enterprises. Clarus customers and partners include IBM, HP, JPMC, EDS, Bank of America and Cisco. Clarus was purchased by OPNET (OPNT) which was quickly purchased by Riverbed. Like many entrepreneurs I started my first 'business' in grade school. I sold paper footballs, a hand written sports magazine, "record setting" pencils and anything else I c/d get a quarter for. I am a devoted Dad and Husband and Georgia football fan.Specialties: DevOps, start-up recruiting, sales, business development, start-up advisor, marketing, positioning, social entrepreneurship, technology strategy, VoIP, IP Telephony, IP Communications, software, management software, testing software, access charges, OEM relationships, venture capital, software sales
