I liked working in television. Even though my tasks were the same day in and day out, the stories we would cover would be different so it was hard to be bored.
There wasn't many opportunites to work up, particularly because I lived in and worked in a small town. However, that's probably much different in larger cities. The pay isn't great. It's ideal for college kids who have housing taken care of or people who are only looking to make some extra money. Long term, it's not great unless you can find a full-time position with a decent salary.
I only really worked during show hours so I would have like a 2.5 hour break in my work day to do other things.
You have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills, that's if your "shift leader" allows it. You are exposed to a diverse group of people on occaision.
No strong leadership, revolving door, no support from manangers, long time employees get mistreated while problem employees are rewarded.
Not having to take my work home.
Advancement opportunity, good people, journalists & good community
Fake management, bad people of it incentives, no loyalty. Use as jumping off point only.
