NEXT's mission is to help entrepreneurs thrive. We're doing that by building the only technology-led, full-stack provider of small business insurance in the industry, taking on the entire value chain and transforming the customer experience.
Simply put, wherever you find small businesses, you'll find NEXT.
Since 2016, we've helped hundreds of thousands of small business customers across the United States get fast, customized and affordable coverage. We're backed by industry leaders in insurance and tech, and we still have room to grow - that's where you come in.
NEXT Insurance is expanding its global data organization with a new Business Analytics & Reporting function in Waltham. We are looking for a hands-on Manager to lead this initiative, transforming how the company consumes data. Reporting to the Head of Data Science, Analytics & Visualization, you will own the mission to democratize data access, establishing the standards and culture that will power our next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on 'player-coach' role, requiring you to be deeply involved in the day-to-day technical execution while also building, mentoring, and leading the team. You will transform data into high-impact visual intelligence that drives critical business decisions across the company, enabling leadership and business teams to derive objective, actionable insights.
What You'll Do:
Own Dashboarding, Self-Serve Configuration & Diagnostic Reporting: You will be responsible for the full user-facing data experience. This involves configuring our downstream BI tools-setting business-friendly field names, default formats, and logic-to build polished, accessible dashboards. Leveraging this environment, you will serve as the primary owner for the company's "What" and "How much" questions, delivering authoritative Monthly/Yearly Business Reviews (MBR/QBR) and automated reports on key trends like mix-shift, volume growth, and YoY performance.
Establish KPI & Metric Governance: You will own the "Source of Truth." You will partner closely with the Data Science team to define, document, and publish the official calculations for our core KPIs, ensuring alignment across all dashboards and preventing metric divergence.
Ensure Data Quality & Trust: You are the final gatekeeper before data reaches the executive and business teams. You will own the validation to ensure the accuracy of our dashboards and metrics.
Stakeholder Partnership: Proactively engage with business leaders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Operations and other Data function teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective, secure, and controlled visualization solutions.
Build & Scale the Team: After getting your hands dirty in executing the above tasks, you will define the hiring roadmap, recruit top-tier talent, and establish the operating culture for the Data Visualization function.
What We Need:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics, with 2+ years of formal people management or team lead experience. Proven experience building or scaling a new team or organizational function is highly desirable.
Leadership & Project Management: You can manage complex cross-functional projects from requirements gathering to delivery. You are comfortable prioritizing a roadmap, managing stakeholder expectations across the company, and driving accountability, even when working as an individual contributor.
Strong SQL Skills: You can write complex SQL to validate your numbers against the data warehouse and debug discrepancies independently.
Technical Mastery in Modern BI: Expert-level proficiency in enterprise-grade visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Sigma, Looker, or PowerBI). You understand how to optimize dashboards for performance and user experience.
The "Analytics Engineer" Mindset: You are comfortable working one step upstream from the chart. You understand data modeling concepts (Star Schema, normalization) and can perform the "last mile" modeling (joins, cleaning) within the BI tool to create usable datasets.
Governance Discipline: You have a track record of creating metric dictionaries, certification processes, or governance workflows. You hate "orphan dashboards" and unmanaged data sprawl.
Communication & Storytelling: You can present technical data to non-technical stakeholders. You understand that a dashboard is not just a chart; it is a tool to drive a business decision.
The Tech Stack:
Storage & Compute: Modern Cloud Data Warehouse (Lakehouse Architecture)
BI & Semantic Layer: Enterprise-grade Self-Service BI Tooling
Data Transformation: SQL / Python
Collaboration: Jira / Confluence / Slack
Why This Role?
Greenfield Opportunity: You aren't just inheriting a legacy mess; you get to define the architecture, the tool standards, and the governance process from the ground up.
Strategic Impact: You are removing the "data bottleneck" for the entire company. Your work will directly empower the business teams to make faster decisions.
Leadership Path: This role is designed to grow. You will start by doing the work, proving the value, and then building the team to scale it.

Manager, Business Insights & Reporting
Next Insurance 4.1
Product manager job at Next Insurance
* Own Dashboarding, Self-Serve Configuration & Diagnostic Reporting: You will be responsible for the full user-facing data experience.
* Establish KPI & Metric Governance: You will own the "Source of Truth." You will partner closely with the Data Science team to define, document, and publish the official calculations for our core KPIs, ensuring alignment across all dashboards and preventing metric divergence.
* Ensure Data Quality & Trust: You are the final gatekeeper before data reaches the executive and business teams. You will own the validation to ensure the accuracy of our dashboards and metrics.
* Stakeholder Partnership: Proactively engage with business leaders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Operations and other Data function teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective, secure, and controlled visualization solutions.
* Build & Scale the Team: After getting your hands dirty in executing the above tasks, you will define the hiring roadmap, recruit top-tier talent, and establish the operating culture for the Data Visualization function.
What We Need:
* Experience: 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics, with 2+ years of formal people management or team lead experience. Proven experience building or scaling a new team or organizational function is highly desirable.
* Leadership & Project Management: You can manage complex cross-functional projects from requirements gathering to delivery. You are comfortable prioritizing a roadmap, managing stakeholder expectations across the company, and driving accountability, even when working as an individual contributor.
* Strong SQL Skills: You can write complex SQL to validate your numbers against the data warehouse and debug discrepancies independently.
* Technical Mastery in Modern BI: Expert-level proficiency in enterprise-grade visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Sigma, Looker, or PowerBI). You understand how to optimize dashboards for performance and user experience.
* The "Analytics Engineer" Mindset: You are comfortable working one step upstream from the chart. You understand data modeling concepts (Star Schema, normalization) and can perform the "last mile" modeling (joins, cleaning) within the BI tool to create usable datasets.
* Governance Discipline: You have a track record of creating metric dictionaries, certification processes, or governance workflows. You hate "orphan dashboards" and unmanaged data sprawl.
* Communication & Storytelling: You can present technical data to non-technical stakeholders. You understand that a dashboard is not just a chart; it is a tool to drive a business decision.
The Tech Stack:
* Storage & Compute: Modern Cloud Data Warehouse (Lakehouse Architecture)
* BI & Semantic Layer: Enterprise-grade Self-Service BI Tooling
* Data Transformation: SQL / Python
* Collaboration: Jira / Confluence / Slack
Why This Role?
* Greenfield Opportunity: You aren't just inheriting a legacy mess; you get to define the architecture, the tool standards, and the governance process from the ground up.
* Strategic Impact: You are removing the "data bottleneck" for the entire company. Your work will directly empower the business teams to make faster decisions.
* Leadership Path: This role is designed to grow. You will start by doing the work, proving the value, and then building the team to scale it.
