Legal Engineer
Crusoe 4.1
San Francisco, CA jobs
Crusoe's mission is to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. We're crafting the engine that powers a world where people can create ambitiously with AI - without sacrificing scale, speed, or sustainability.
Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that's setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.
About This Role:
Crusoe Legal is moving beyond traditional operations to build a state-of-the-art, automated Legal Operating System to power our rapid international expansion. We are seeking a technical and innovative Legal Engineer to architect the infrastructure that eliminates legal and financial friction across the company. In this high-impact role, you will treat legal processes as engineering challenges, designing scalable logic, building complex integrations across our enterprise stack (Ironclad, Salesforce, Coupa, Slack), and deploying data-driven solutions. Join us at the intersection of Law, Technology, and Finance to build the digital backbone of a hyper-growth, AI-forward global enterprise. This is a full-time position.
What You'll Be Working On:
Legal Tech Stack Architecture & Integration: Architect and maintain the integrity of the legal technology ecosystem (CLM, ELM, IP Management). You will lead the technical design of integrations between legal tools and the broader enterprise stack (Salesforce, Slack, Coupa) using APIs, middleware, and webhooks to ensure seamless data flow.
Workflow Engineering & Logic Design: "Productize" legal services by designing the "Front Door" intake system. You will build complex, conditional workflows that transform unstructured requests into structured data, utilizing logic gates to route approvals and tasks without manual intervention.
Finance Operations Automation: Engineer the connection between Legal and Finance. You will automate the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) lifecycle by configuring validation rules for billing, automating accrual data collection, and ensuring perfect sync between the CLM and ERP systems.
Data Analytics & Dashboarding: Design the data schema required to capture actionable metrics (cycle times, risk exposure, spend velocity) and build dynamic, real-time dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI, or native tools) for executive leadership.
Knowledge Management & Scalability: Build the digital scaffolding for international expansion. You will configure dynamic contract templates and clauses that adapt based on jurisdiction, automating the delivery of "Global Expansion Playbooks" to business users via self-service portals.
AI & Innovation Implementation: Serve as the technical lead for testing and deploying AI-driven features within the legal stack, specifically regarding contract analysis and metadata extraction.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
Technical Legal Operations Experience: 4+ years in a Legal Engineering, Legal Operations, or Systems Analyst role, specifically within a high-growth technology company. You have a track record of shipping solutions, not just managing them.
Advanced CLM Architecture: Deep, hands-on configuration experience with modern CLM platforms (specifically Ironclad). You must be comfortable building complex workflow conditions, manipulating metadata fields, and designing template schemas.
Integration & Automation Fluency: Proven experience connecting systems via APIs, Webhooks, or Middleware (e.g., Workato, Tray.io, Zapier). You understand data payloads (JSON) and how to map fields between disparate systems.
Data Structure & Analytics: Proficiency in data management. You can structure data for reporting and have experience with databases or advanced Excel/Google Sheets formulas (Index/Match and Query functions are expected) to synthesize financial and operational data.
Process Engineering Mindset: A demonstrated ability to map "analog" legal processes into digital workflows. You can visualize complex decision trees and identify edge cases before building.
Bonus Points:
Coding & Scripting: Basic proficiency in Python or JavaScript is a strong differentiator.
Enterprise Platform Certifications: Administrator-level certifications in Salesforce, Coupa, or Ironclad are highly advantageous.
BI Tool Expertise: Experience building visualizations in Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker.
AI Prompt Engineering: Specific experience testing and implementing AI tools within a legal context (e.g., tuning prompts for contract review or data extraction).
Benefits:
Industry competitive pay
Restricted Stock Units in a fast growing, well-funded technology company
Health insurance package options that include HDHP and PPO, vision, and dental for you and your dependents
Employer contributions to HSA accounts
Paid Parental Leave
Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
Teladoc
401(k) with a 100% match up to 4% of salary
Generous paid time off and holiday schedule
Cell phone reimbursement
Tuition reimbursement
Subscription to the Calm app
MetLife Legal
Company paid commuter benefit; $300 per month
Compensation:
Compensation will be provided in the range of $136,000 - $165,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Final compensation determinations will be based upon the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
