About the Role: The Legal Counsel Director - Real Estate Finance and Data Centers will play a key role in supporting the company's large-scale project financings and real estate developments. Assist in the development and execution of regulatory legal strategy in support of natural gas distribution utility operations in eight states and an intrastate pipeline located in Texas in a manner that aligns with the Company's vision of being the safest provider of natural gas services and the Company's safety culture. Occasionally works on federal issues. 2. Provides advice and counsel to all levels of management regarding various legal and regulatory issues and matters affecting the Company, including but not limited to, utility regulation as well as on the development and revisions of plans, policies, and practices. 3. Drafts and reviews contracts including interconnect agreements, gas supply contracts, and transportation agreements with customers with a focus on regulatory compliance. 4. Directs and coordinates outside counsel and expert witnesses in regulatory proceedings. Develops trial/hearing strategy and assists in rate case preparation and presentation. 5. Performs general legal research involving various issues and concerns. 6. Analyzes pending and current legislation and advises appropriate parties of pertinent court and administrative decisions regarding their impact on the Company and the natural gas industry. 7. Works with Company personnel to identify DOT PHMSA compliance activities and develop appropriate processes and procedures to fulfill related requirements. 8. Interacts with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the Company with tact, courtesy and professionalism. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Required: • Four-year undergraduate degree and law degree from an accredited school • Licensed to practice law in a jurisdiction of the United States • Four years of professional legal experience. Strongly preferred: • 3-5 years relevant experience participating in rate cases for a regulated public utility in the natural gas industry and/or other rate-regulated industries • Experience appearing before state public service commissions and/or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature. NUMERIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires basic computer skills for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.
