Team Leader Engineering activities for regional operating areas. Provide guidance, direction, and support to engineering staff and coordinate activities with internal and external customers. Manage the performance of engineering staff to ensure the completion of goals and department objectives. Assist in the development and management of the capital budget programs for their respective state. Ensure all projects are designed according to Company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. Collaborate with Engineering peers, Field Operations, Construction, and Support groups to ensure safe, reliable delivery of energy services at best value to our customers
This role is preferred to be based in Staunton, Vint Hill, Fredericksburg or Chester. This role will be covering the northern field engineering team.
Essential Functions
* Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage
* Lead all regional engineering activities
* Coach, develop and evaluate engineering staff
* Assign projects and responsibilities to engineering staff that fosters a sense of ownership and accountability while also providing development opportunities
* Identify, prioritize and develop infrastructure projects in partnership with operations
* Deliver timely engineering designs that ensure safety, cost efficiency and compliance with all policies, procedures, standards, federal, state and local codes, and long term system plans
* Provide technical and emergency support to Field Operations
* Assist in developing and managing local and state capital plan while meeting budgetary metrics and goals
* Ensure high level internal and external customer satisfaction
* Cultivate positive relationships with federal, state and municipal agencies
* Drive functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence
* Partner with Field Operations, Construction, Support Services, ARM, New Business, Finance, and other key stakeholders to meet strategic goals and objectives that drives value to our customers
* Promote the use of technology, tools and planning techniques to improve process results while consistently looking for a better way
Required Qualifications For Position
* Bachelor's of Science degree in an ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology program
* Three years of experience in gas utility Engineering or Operations
* Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, gas system design and budget management
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with system operations, construction and emergency response activities
* Demonstrated proficiency with industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures relative to utility engineering, construction, operations and safety.
* Knowledge of utility infrastructures
* Knowledge of utility regulatory ratemaking and budgeting processes and systems
* Familiarity with common computer applications
* Skilled in the use of Word, Excel and AutoCAD or equivalent applications. S, GIS)
* Demonstrated proficiency with NiSource codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures relative to utility engineering, construction, operations and safety.

The Field Engineer is responsible for evaluation, design, and estimation of natural gas distribution facilities for new business, public and system improvement, and maintenance projects according to company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. Natural gas distribution facilities may consist of main lines, service lines, and measurement & regulation equipment. The Field Engineer will provide technical assistance and support for Construction and Field Operations staff involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution facilities. Collaborate and coordinate efforts with key stakeholders on projects of varying scopes and sizes including large distribution projects.
This role is preferred to be based in Auburn, IN. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Auburn, IN NiSource reporting office to be eligible for consideration.
Essential Functions
* Evaluate, design, and estimate natural gas distribution facilities
* Prepare permit applications and easement requests required on project designs
* Determine best method to achieve goals and maintain flexibility, while requiring a level of support from others to complete tasks
* Works cooperatively and is a supportive member of team, volunteers assistance
* Prepare budget estimates seeking appropriate approvals in accordance with policy
* Report on project variances when required by policy
* Support Operations employees in emergency situations along with other course of business operations
* Act as liaison to state, county, and local government officials

Provides in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability ensuring compliance to customer's needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
Provides initial or complete task management of engineering issues.
Recommends equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
Supports plant design modifications, testing and problem solving.

About The Position
The Engineer is primarily responsible for designing and estimating distribution work, as well as providing expertise in processing Distributed Energy Resource applications and installations.

About The Position
The Engineer is primarily responsible for designing and estimating distribution work, as well as providing expertise in processing Distributed Energy Resource applications and installations.
