Reporting to the Head of Architecture, the Principal Enterprise Architect works closely with the Application Development, Infrastructure, Security, PMO, Data and Analytics teams to provide overall architectureleadership across NiSource. The Principal Enterprise Architect will build out the architecture vision, strategy, and capability roadmap.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience envisioning and translating overall architecture with business needs via transformation roadmaps, establish target architecture and standards for the organization, building consensus, and provide guidance in the selling and execution within solution development processes of options and reuse points.
Your additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Provides senior level expertise on overall direction, guidance, definition, decisions, and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall architecture to effectively support the organization business strategy.
Interact with business leaders, IT leaders, vendors and industry experts to translate business requirements, understand options to capabilities, and create architecture blueprints and high-level solution designs for the most complex architectural components of a program.
Strategy - Interfaces across several business areas, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in defining direction for future projects. Help business leaders and their teams think through the technology, business and operational implications of their technology investment decisions.
Execution - Reviews, advises, and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on the enterprise business process and goals. Be the architecture thought leader and trusted go-to partner for Product and Engineering leadership across the organization, recommending innovative solutions to improve live and new system architectures.
Operations - Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and reference material that guides the design of technology solutions. Leadarchitectural collaboration and governing processes including Architecture Review Boards, Solution Architecture reviews, exception management, and related processes.
Innovation - Responsible for researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technologies strategies. Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

What You Will Contribute:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Architecture Management defines the technology building blocks of the enterprise and their inter-relationships, guiding their design and evolution. These principles drive roadmaps to ensure the right mix of technology services for business value. The Sr. IT Architect aligns IT solutions with architectural standards, ensuring compliance with architecture processes for all projects In Analytics space. They support IT standards development by participating in technology pilots and evaluating technical advantages, market availability, and risks. They provide guidance to project managers and stakeholders on IT system solutions and improvements. They assist in developing frameworks, roadmaps, Detail designs, documentation and tools evaluation for operational effectiveness and support of cloud architectures. They adapt to special projects and collaborate with technology vendors when necessary.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Work within a team environment to conduct the architecture governance program for technology projects across the Exelon organization. This includes determining alignment of projects with technical standards and other business requirements (50%)
* Assist the IT Architecture and Engineering community in planning the introduction of new technologies and/or identifying the most appropriate technology choices to accomplish goals by utilizing Exelon's standard governance process. Assist in the development of white papers, conducting presentations as needed to explain why a technology is being recommended by IT (20%)
* Build and maintain knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assist in development of analysis of their use for business and/or IT clients (15%)
* Participate and facilitate peer groups around specific technology areas (10%)
* Maintain and enhance engagement with business and IT partners (5%)

US citizenship is required. Ability to travel is a plus. This role may include work outside standard hours due to mission-critical operations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar experience
Proficiency in Java for backend development
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience
BONUS POINTS
Experience in API development using RESTFul (JSON/XML)
Experience with Go, Python, and C++
Solid understanding of database design, optimization, and management
Experience with software development best practices including Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools
Cloud experience with technologies such as AWS and Kubernetes
Experience in the space industry
