The Principle Regulatory Engineer position is based out of our Clinton Clean Energy Center in Clinton, IL. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Performs advanced regulatory/technical problem solving and provides analysis/insights in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for regulatory/technical decisions. Possesses superior knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has excellent knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Understands interrelations and functions of various organizations (e.g., Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Institute of Nuclear Power Operators (INPO), Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), etc.) related to nuclear power. Functions with recognized level of expertise in the regulatory area. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Perform advanced regulatory and technical tasks, and provide insights in support of nuclear plant operations. Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of regulatory/technical projects and programs. Provide in-depth regulatory/technical expertise to develop, manage and implement regulatory activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability ensuring compliance to customer's needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper licensing basis management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures, regulations and codes are used in preparation of products. Provide regulatory/technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve regulatory issues. Provide initial or complete task management of regulatory issues. Recommend new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify operation, reduce costs, reduce regulatory burden, correct regulatory non-compliances, or comply with changes in codes or regulations. Support resolution of regulatory issues associated with plant design modifications, testing and problem solving. Assure all regulatory products prepared or overseen are in accordance with applicable procedures, licensing basis, industry codes, and all regulatory requirements. The Senior Development Engineer, under direction of leadership, will support the identification and development of viable energy services and energy asset projects within the C&I and Federal spaces. Projects may be initiated by the sales force or developed independently. Provides technical and financial analysis of energy conservation measures and energy supply for projects under consideration. Assist in supporting sales efforts to secure new customers by building business relationships and providing technical expertise throughout sales and construction phases. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Evaluates energy saving opportunities at customer facilities by conducting ASHRAE level I, II & III energy audits and preparing written technical proposals identifying potential energy conservation measures. Employs technical expertise to develop preliminary designs and estimates of cost and energy saving opportunities at customer's facilities. Leads and performs engineering tasks for critical or complex projects requiring multidisciplinary knowledge. Designs large-scale lighting and water conservation projects with an emphasis on auditing, specification, energy calculations, and quality control of third-party design submissions. Uses current energy modeling software to support building analysis and project planning. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design intent, constructability, and cost-effectiveness of all deliverables. Demonstrates leadership in safety by promoting compliance, correcting unsafe behaviors, and encouraging a safe work environment. Specific Responsibilities: * Develop systems and processes that reduce costs, enhance employee safety, improve product quality, and increase operating efficiencies and equipment reliability * Coordinates the design, construction and installation of electrical power and control systems for new and existing equipment which are safe, reliable, and technically correct. * Proactively identify needs, conceive improvements, consider potential issues, evaluating costs and potential savings to optimize existing machinery and/or processes. * Performs root cause analysis using a number of established systems and techniques such as Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Cause and Effect diagrams (fishbone), 5 Whys, etc. * Conducts studies, collects data, and provides detailed engineering calculations to support proposed design solution. * Creates, modifies, and documents PLC programs, HMI screens and programs, electrical schematic drawings, control cabinet layouts, control networks, single line drawings and power distribution layouts. * Prepares cost estimates, writes detailed equipment specifications to assist with obtaining vendor/contractor quotations, and provides on-site supervision of construction projects to assure that plans and specifications are met. * Prepares electrical drawings, project schedules, cable and I/O tables, PLC programs, HMI screens and programs, sequence of operations, operating and maintenance procedures, including parts lists, to provide plant personnel with operating and maintenance information. * Assists Plant Engineering and Maintenance personnel with the identification of causes of electrical and control problems and provides solutions to problems through adjustments, modifications, training, documentation or revisions to programs, parts, and systems. * Organizes and maintains electrical controls and programming software licenses. \\ * Maintains working relationship with outside consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers, and vendors to provide the Company with quality materials and professional assistance. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or 3 plus years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in the foundry or steel industry. * Experienced in the design, installation, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power systems. * Experienced in the design, installation, and programming of PLC systems, preferably Allen-Bradley. * Experienced in the design, installation, and programming of HMI systems. Panelview, Cimplicity. * PC proficient with MS Office products and the ability to design electrical systems using CAD software, preferably AutoCAD. * Excellent communications skills with ability to present technical information.
