LOCATION This is a remote position based in the Mid-Atlantic US. Up to 60% travel is required, to support projects concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates must reside in the territory to best support client site visits and other travel expectations. Additionally, occasional travel to the Warrendale, PA office and other Constellation offices will be required, for in-person meetings and collaboration, as requested by leadership. Our ideal candidate will reside in the Maryland / D.C. / Virginia area, in order to best accommodate regular travel needs. Primary Purpose of Position The Senior Development Engineer is responsible for the development of Infrastructure Renewal and Building Upgrade & Improvement projects, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. The Senior Development Engineer, under direction of leadership, will support the identification and development of viable energy services and energy asset projects within the C&I and Federal spaces. Projects may be initiated by the sales force or developed independently. Provides technical and financial analysis of energy conservation measures and energy supply for projects under consideration. Assist in supporting sales efforts to secure new customers by building business relationships and providing technical expertise throughout sales and construction phases. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Evaluates energy saving opportunities at customer facilities by conducting ASHRAE level I, II & III energy audits and preparing written technical proposals identifying potential energy conservation measures. Employs technical expertise to develop preliminary designs and estimates of cost and energy saving opportunities at customer's facilities. Leads and performs engineering tasks for critical or complex projects requiring multidisciplinary knowledge. Designs large-scale lighting and water conservation projects with an emphasis on auditing, specification, energy calculations, and quality control of third-party design submissions. Uses current energy modeling software to support building analysis and project planning. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design intent, constructability, and cost-effectiveness of all deliverables. Demonstrates leadership in safety by promoting compliance, correcting unsafe behaviors, and encouraging a safe work environment. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, or comparable discipline) 5-years work experience consulting engineering, design-build, energy services fields Experience developing complex energy conservation projects for building construction and retrofit applications, with demonstrated knowledge of associated systems and methodologies Extensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, building automation, and process-related systems in commercial, industrial, governmental, and healthcare facilities Demonstrated experience applying engineering theory and structured problem-solving approaches Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems Proven knowledge of applicable construction standards and codes Demonstrated experience applying project life cycle cost analysis Effective written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation & technical writing skills Must have and maintain a valid driver's license Must meet eligibility requirements for access to government facilities Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineering (PE) registration, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or LEED Accreditation Ability to perform load calculations and energy analyses using industry-standard modeling software, including EnergyPlus, eQuest, Trane Trace 3D, and solar PV evaluation tools such as Helioscope, and/or design programs such as AutoCAD Experience developing energy conservation programs for the Federal Government through Super ESPC and/or Area-wide contract vehicles and with FEMP/IPMVP Measurement and Verification guidelines and protocols Experience in developing energy conservation projects involving solar PV and other renewable energy technologies, battery storge (BESS), data centers, large prime movers such as combustion turbines, biomass, and landfill gas facilities

    We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior or Principal level coastal engineer to join our team at NSD, a team of scientists and engineers who strive to have a positive impact through landscape scale restoration of ecosystems. We are looking for a mission driven and experienced individual to lead and grow the design side of our coastal program. Founded in 2003, we are an interdisciplinary team of over 50 people with office locations in Seattle, Bellingham, and Port Angeles, Washington. Position Summary: We are looking to expand our Coastal Group leadership as we grow our backlog of innovative coastal and nearshore analysis and restoration projects. This position is an excellent opportunity to provide leadership in your design practice with the support of our existing engineers and scientists - including coastal geomorphologists, hydrologists, and biologists - focused on ecosystem restoration. We work primarily with agencies, tribal clients, and non-profits, providing them with coastal and nearshore expertise to restore more functional and resilient nearshore habitats. Our current coastal services include: Coastal, nearshore, beach, lake shore, and estuary assessment and restoration Coastal structure and nature-based design Coastal engineering, ecological assessment, and effectiveness monitoring Sea level rise/coastal flooding analysis, vulnerability assessment, and adaptation design As a Senior or Principal, you will: Manage and deliver coastal and nearshore design projects. Provide leadership and strategic direction within our coastal group. Lead or co-lead business development efforts to maintain our existing relationships and position for new clients and projects. Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Qualifications: Minimum 10+ years of experience in coastal engineering. Proven track record of project delivery for coastal and nearshore design projects. Management experience within an organization. Experience with project management on complex projects. Collaborative workstyle within multidisciplinary project teams. Experience with business development, proposal preparation, and project interviews. Excellent communication, leadership, and business development skills. A commitment to restoration and innovation in science-led engineering solutions. Experience with nature-based design solutions. Familiarity with gravel and mixed gravel-sand beach dynamics and beach design. Experience with construction oversight of coastal projects Registered Washington PE or ability to receive within 6 months. Preferred Qualifications: Puget Sound region professional experience in coastal engineering. MS. or Ph.D. in coastal, civil, or ocean engineering, oceanography, or related discipline. Preferred candidates will have more than 15 years of coastal design project and management experience. Proficiency with analysis of aerial imagery data and other coastal mapping, LiDAR data, and long-term MetOcean data. Proficiency of developing design concepts/alternatives in ACAD or other drafting software. Coastal modeling experience, including experience with SWAN, XBeach, Delft 3D, GenCade, USACE Coastal Modeling System, SMS, etc. Basic understanding of ESRI ArcGIS Pro, including acquiring and importing geospatial and remote sensing data, geospatial analysis. Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to a range of perspectives on relationships and interconnections with the natural world and traditional cultures, such as local indigenous knowledge. Position Location: Seattle, Bellingham, or Port Angeles, Washington; and/or Remote NSD is currently using a hybrid model of in-office and remote work from home.
