About the Role
nLIGHT is seeking a Quality Technician to join our quality team located in Camas, Washington. This role supports the quality needs of the fiber laser manufacturing line and will manage disposition of non-conforming parts. This position will also manage the calibration program and coordinate the quarterly calibration events.
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM, plus overtime as necessary
Roles and Responsibilities
* Performs inspection on equipment such as regular preventative maintenance and Calibration.
* Provides trouble shooting to the equipment issues.
* Maintains and updates other metrology tools
* Maintains the IQA labs for cleanroom, safety, 5S, ESD etc. standards
* Completes First Article Inspection Reports for manufactured and purchased items (FAIR).
* Manages to reduce non-conforming material (NCM) through timely disposition, transactions, and reporting.
* Performs incoming inspection and product in-line inspection per documented requirements
* Generates incoming inspection documentation.
* Leads the cycle count in the IQA teams
* Updates and assists with managing the IQA Master Log and IQA records.
Qualifications
* 3+ years of experience as a Quality Inspector, or Manufacturing/Process Technician, or as Senior Quality Inspector.
* ERP system transactions knowledge is required.
* Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings.
* Experience with measurement of precision mechanical and optical components/assemblies, using micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, microscopes, optical comparators, etc. preferred.
* Experience with inspection of components for laser diode assemblies and fiber optics preferred.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Local travel may be needed for up to 15% of the time.

* Quality Technician II - $23.93 to $31.10 per hour

* Shift differentials are paid at the rate of 10% for hours worked between 5:30PM and 12:00AM and at 15% for hours worked between 12:00AM and 5:30AM
* Target Cash Bonus with potential payout of up to 2% of earned wages

Essential Duties and responsibilities
Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling to support process efficiency and product quality.
Identify and recommend resolutions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems, equipment failures, or safety issues.
Recommend cost reduction initiatives and manufacturing process improvements.
Participate in the review and evaluation of product design changes.
Participate in customer-facing meetings to provide engineering updates and manage technical expectations.
Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability; process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products.
Develop, monitor and report on project schedules and establish Standard Operating Procedures for new and updated manufacturing equipment and systems.
Collaborate with quality, production, and engineering teams to troubleshoot production and equipment issues.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring issues.
Develop manufacturing instructions or procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5 + years of thermoplastic or composites related manufacturingengineering experience. Other nonmetallic experience is a plus.
Demonstrated experience working within highly regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., FDA, FAA, ITAR, or ISO 13485/AS9100).
Aerospace industry experience preferred.
Proficiency in interpreting and executing to industry-specific standards, including ASTM and SPI guidelines.
Strong competence in Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and the MRB (Materials Review Board) process, with the ability to provide technical dispositions and develop validated rework procedures for complex components.
Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints, drawings and 3-D models.
Experience initiating and implementing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools required.
CAD (CATIA) proficiency is a plus.
Candidate must be comfortable working hands-on on the manufacturing floor.
Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.
Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.
Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)

Summary
The Tooling and ManufacturingEngineer (Micro-Assembly) will require CNC operation, PLC programming, assembly, and quality control experience for success in this role. Key Responsibilities
· Set up and operate proprietary equipment to manufacture parts that meet engineering specifications.
