We are looking for a motivated, caring, and dedicated individual to be part of our team providing care as a Tech Assistant. The Tech Assistant provides daily basic care for in-patient and boarding animals, including bathing, feeding, exercising. This position is responsible for cleaning of equipment and clinic spaces, assisting the veterinary technicians/assistants, and some customer services and client interaction. This role's focus will be our boarding kennel, but you will split time between the kennel, grooming, and the clinic while gaining experience in General Practice, Emergency, and ICU medicine.
You will join an amazing team of friendly and knowledgeable staff in a fast-paced clinic atmosphere. Your duties will involve, but are not limited to: cleaning kennels, feeding/watering animals, litter box cleaning, laundry, sweeping/mopping, bathing and assisting our groomer, making surgery packs, proper and safe restraint of animals, assisting the veterinary technicians with appointments, and other duties as assigned by your supervisor. You will be on your feet the majority of the day and often expected to move at a fairly quick pace. Your kennel and clinic duties will involve the handling of a variety of dog breeds and cats, so you must be comfortable with pets of all sizes and personalities.

Responsibilities include:
Caring for our boarding and hospitalized patients, walking, feeding and giving medications.
Facility cleaning is a large part of this job. It does require vacuuming, mopping and cleaning cages.
Kennel staff must have sufficient physical strength, mobility and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, dexterity and confidence to administer medications, ability to monitor pets for signs of distress and the willingness and desire to learn to provide gentle, compassionate care for the boarded pets.
Working with a great and caring team.
Hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3:30pm-8pm and every other weekend and holidays. Weekend times are Saturday, 7:00am-12:00pm and 5-8pm Sunday: 7:00am-12:00pm and 5-8pm. Holidays you are there 3 times a day to care for our boarders. Must be a self-motivated individual.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
· Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

During your externship, internship, or practicum, students will be eligible to extern at one of our ten Indiana practices, with a focus on either general practice, emergency, or low-cost community care.
Students will improve technical and diagnostic skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, intubation, surgical preparation, radiology placement and wound management, while working alongside veterinarians and highly skilled technical staff. Additionally, our externs receive insight into client communication, triage and diagnostic interpretation, and diagnostic decision making.
Externs will also be able to attend monthly educational workshops taught by Crystal Schaeffer, Director of Technician Development, or another member of our development team.
