LabCare Latham is seeking a full time Evening Lab Supervisor to join their team! This is a full time 40-hour work week, 11:30am-8:00pm.
The Evening Clinical Laboratory Supervisor assists the Laboratory Manager in coordinating laboratory activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective testing of patient samples. This position supports quality management systems, maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations, and provides supervision and technical support to evening laboratory staff. Responsible for ordering and maintaining all laboratory supplies.
Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to the following:
Assists with scheduling, training, and competency assessments of laboratory staff.
Participates in hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary action as appropriate.
Ensures proper collection, processing, and testing of all specimens per established protocols.
Oversees Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Proficiency Testing programs.
Ensures Standard Operating Procedure Manuals (SOPMs) are current and signed off.
Performs laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology.
Maintains detailed records of procedure performance, patient results, troubleshooting logs, and quality control.
Reviews and verifies laboratory reports for accuracy and completeness before release.
Notifies physicians and nurses of “red flag” or critical results per established policies.
Maintains equipment and supply inventory; performs and documents preventive and corrective maintenance.
Troubleshoots instrumentation issues and coordinates vendor service when necessary.
Ensures compliance with all safety, infection control, and OSHA standards.
Maintains a safe and clean work area, properly handling and disposing of biohazardous materials.
Participates in continuing education and maintains documentation per NYS requirements.
Builds a positive rapport within the organization and throughout the laboratory community.
Oversees LIS communications and technical functions related to laboratory operations.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance (QA) Radiological Technologist position encompasses responsible, administrative and clinical activity of varying degrees of latitude. Clinical level judgement is needed in the daily supervision of radiological functions and patient care, and departmental projects.
Responsibilities include:
Review exam orders, consult with radiologist, schedule patients and arrange for transportation as indicated.
Identify patient and document all information pertinent to final report in the RIS and on images (PACS).
Prepare all patients (infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric) for radiological procedures requested by the clinician. Arrange for proper protection of patients, public and staff from infectious diseases/materials.
Perform all general diagnostic imaging and routine examination in CT and Angiography.
Assists in performing daily checks of radiographic imaging equipment, immobilization devices and other necessary accessories.
Enters data and maintains documents and logs as required and mandated by the department QA guidelines and various regulatory agencies.
Maintains adequate stocks of supplies and materials needed for use in the department.
Checks equipment for defects prior for use and assures proper use of such equipment through instruction and review.
Report any unexpected patient incidents in accordance with the occurrence report protocol.
Maintain and exercise all mandated radiation safety regulations. Maintain basic care of all the imaging equipment. All malfunctions are to be reported to management staff whether mechanical, electrical or suspect and service request documentation completed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment for both patients and staff.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary (by supervisory or administrative staff) in the event of emergencies or disasters.

Ensure all examinations are accessioned, documented and sent to PACS for reading. Monitor PACS and RIS incomplete worklists to ensure all exams are completed.

Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level III
1. For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced- level certification for the performance of these procedures.
Department Preferences
Possession of a current valid license as a General Radiological Technologist issued by the State of New York.
A minimum of two years of experience as a Radiological Technologist.
A current member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Valid BLS required.

Additional Salary Compensation
All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.

How You'll Contribute:

Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Attention to detail is essential with these duties; labeling must be clear and legible
Perform chemiluminescent immunoassays on serum samples, using automated equipment. This includes calibrating; cleaning and maintaining the equipment as required by the manufacturer
Perform semen analyses, including sperm count, sperm motility, sperm morphology and viability. Perform routine sperm preps for inseminations, maintaining sterile technique throughout
Maintain records that demonstrate that PT samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens

Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance

As outlined in the New York State Department of Health standards testing personnel must:
follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of tests; maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:
quality control activities
instrument and equipment verifications;

follow the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications; identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance and notify the supervisor, assistant director(s) or director; and document all corrective actions taken when tests systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

Improves job performance through continuing education and productive feedback. Demonstrates basic-keyboarding skills needed for a highly computerized laboratory environment. Utilizes computer systems to perform inquiries, order tests, enter results and comments, generate billing, issue credits and generate worksheets and reports as assigned according to standard laboratory practices. Demonstrates cooperation and flexibility in continually meeting patient care needs, incorporating aspects of the change process into the professional role. Performs job duties in an honest, punctual and ethical manner. Responds positively to changes in scheduling in conjunction with departmental needs. Adapts to new standards in technology. Serves as a positive role model for other staff by following accepted departmental guidelines such as wearing appropriate attire and maintaining personal hygiene, limiting personal phone calls, attending departmental in-services, completing specific mandatory in-services, assisting with training of new staff members and following break and mealtime limits. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A Clinical Laboratory Technologist II discusses and communicates laboratory method(s), principle(s) and theory (ies) with the laboratory and healthcare teams in the course of resolving issues, and teaching and mentoring students and fellow employees.
Once a Clinical Laboratory Technologist II has sufficient experience (generally six years) to qualify under the New York provision listed in Subpart 58 as a Supervisor he/she may, after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, be assigned as a supervisor for situations where the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor is not on-site, but readily available by telephone or electronic paging device.
As outlined in the New York State Department of Health standards testing personnel must:
follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of tests; maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:
quality control activities
instrument and equipment verifications;
maintenance and preventive maintenance; and
follow the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications; identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance and notify the supervisor, assistant director(s) or director; and document all corrective actions taken when tests systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

The technologist may be required to work day, evening or night shifts including weekends, holidays and on-call. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to infectious and hazardous chemicals as outlined in the department's Chemical Hygiene Plan.
The noise level of the department is moderate to high. The work environment is subject to constant interruptions in workflow.
