It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College's Mission. Responsibilities and Duties: * Treats students and colleagues with respect. * Active involvement in issues of institutional effectiveness including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement. * Focuses' on teaching and outreach efforts for student's success. * Administrative: 1) Hold class sessions as scheduled. 2) Maintains appropriate records of grades/attendance and submits required to the Division Chair and Registrar on time. 3) Posts office hours and be available to students during that time. 4) Makes an appropriate syllabus available to students and the Division Chair in a timely manner. 5) Be well organized and prepared for class. * Instructional: 1) Maintain college level rigor and require a high level of academic excellence from students. 2) Use an appropriate variety of instructional methods to enhance learning. 3) Develop appropriate tests, projects, and/or other evaluation activities for the courses taught. 4) Considers student course evaluations in the improvement of instruction. 5) Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with students. 6) Provides appropriate feedback on student assignments. 7) Encourage an atmosphere in which students may ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas. * Institutional: 1) Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with colleagues and other college personnel. 2) Participate in divisional meetings and activities. 3) Serve on college committees. 4) Attend and participate in college in-service, workshops, and activities. * Professional: 1) Keep abreast of developments in the subject area and in instructional techniques. 2) Participate in professional development activities. 3) Share ideas and materials related to the teaching field and/or pedagogy with colleagues. 4) Participate in the peer classroom observation program. * Academic advising: 1) Advise students regarding class scheduling, degree planning, and give appropriate career advising. * Other duties as assigned.
