At Chesterton, we have a laser focus on our customers. The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for a wide variety of tasks involved in the order fulfillment of customer orders, shipping, receiving and warehousing of raw materials, finished goods supplies, and equipment. Process incoming items, checks goods received against purchase orders and/or invoices, perform quality control checks on incoming raw materials and finished goods. Prepares and maintains records of both received goods and merchandise shipped. Posts weights and shipping charges for goods prepared for final shipment. Responsible for basic cycle counting and reconciliation.
Job Model: On-Site
All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense.
Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.

Position Summary:
Granite City Electric is looking to hire a Warehouse Shipping Associate for our Taunton, MA location. The hours for this position will be 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The Warehouse Shipping Associate will be responsible for inventory management, receiving, storing, picking, and shipment of materials. Pay for this position is $21.00 per hour. Additional details are listed below.
Essential Functions:
Moves material in a safe manner manually or by using forklift, pallet jack, handcart or another device.
Accurately counts, checks, prepares, and locates items being received or shipped.
Assists with the maintenance of inventory and the upkeep of the department.
Completes paperwork, documentation, and data input in accordance with established procedures.
Acquires and maintains current knowledge of GCE policies and procedures, general product knowledge, participates in training, and attends meetings as requested.
Acts in helpful and cooperative manner towards customers and co-workers.
Participates in processes and programs aimed at promoting a safe work environment.
Must acquire a working knowledge of the Eclipse software support system.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Safe driving and forklift operator courses desirable.
Knowledge of forklift/stand up forklift operations and warehouse equipment preferred.
Basic knowledge of computers and office suite, especially Excel, with the ability to learn.
Equivalent education or experience may be substituted for any of the above.

This position is the initial and primary point of contact for drivers arriving at the facility to pick up outbound loads or make deliveries. The Shipping and Receiving Specialist logs all drivers into the facility, directs them to the appropriate dock for loading/unloading, monitors all incoming and outgoing shipping activities, including paperwork, and records outgoing shipments and examines shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules. * Verify and enter the pallets, charges, carrier, trailer numbers and appropriate BOL notes on the delivery or shipment.

* Maintain inbound and outbound truck log daily.

Shipping/Receiving Job Description The Shipping and Receiving specialist will report to the GM and work closely with production departments to prepare printing jobs for shipment and receive shipments. The ideal candidate for this position has the ability to multitask, work with accuracy and a sense of urgency, and has an interest in digital printing. Specific training in our job tracking software will be provided, along with specific training on our forklift. Prior experience operating a forklift is a plus. This position also includes cleaning support: managing recycling bins, keeping shipping and parking area clean, and cleaning bathrooms and breakroom as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to move pallets of material, interact with equipment as needed, navigate safely through a production environment, operate, handle, or use objects, tools or controls, communicate and discern to exchange information and identify safety hazards. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly, with the assistance of others and material handling equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision. Prepare shipments for delivery, including for FedEx Express, Ground, Freight, Messenger. Maintain organized packout area and runway for incoming/outgoing shipments Empty and manage large waste bins throughout the production area Cleaning duties, including sweeping the production area, the forklift runway and parking area, and assistance cleaning the office areas as needed. Cleaning break room and bathrooms as needed. Light maintenance tasks such as changing furnace filters. Inventory of packing and cleaning supplies. Communicate as needed with FedEx/UPS. Deliver packages to FedEx/UPS or USPS as needed Assist in fulfillment/distribution projects Retain samples from outgoing shipments and maintain in a retrievable system. Help with print production as needed. Work Environment This job generally operates in a production environment where he/she may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration and moderate to loud noise level. This role routinely uses a forklift and other equipment such as pallet jacks. The employee will handle general purpose cleaning products and chemicals used in printing, such as isopropyl alcohol. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time hourly position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, on site. Overtime on evenings and weekends may be required depending upon business necessity.
