Responsibilities May Include: Assisting and supporting the teacher(s) in classroom setting Providing one-on-one or small group support to students who may need additional assistance in subject area(s) Supporting student(s) with special learning needs, modifications, or accommodations as directed by classroom teacher or individualized education plans (IEPs) Assisting with supervision of student(s) across various settings throughout the school day Assisting student(s) with daily activities, as required, including helping with mobility, personal care, or communication Assisting student(s) with academic assignments and social-emotional development Performing routine clerical duties and record keeping Attending building and district meetings and workshops as required Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students, teachers and staff Basic computer skills, including familiarity with classroom technology and educational software Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team Able to work in a collaborative environment Ability to understand and respond to student(s) behavior Dependable Patience, flexibility and ability to adapt to various classroom/student needs Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand and move around for extended periods of time Ability to assist students with physical needs Some positions may require assisting students with physical disabilities or mobility issues Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER: (A) One (1) year of full time or its part time equivalent paid or volunteer equivalent experience working in a clerical capacity; OR, (B) One (1) year of full time or its part time equivalent paid or volunteer equivalent experience working with children; OR (C) Possession of a certificate of completion for a course for Child Care through an occupational school, The American Red Cross, or similar agency; OR (D) A combination of experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
