North Island Credit Union company history timeline

1998

On August 21, 1998, the venue hosted its first sell-out concert with the English pop girl group Spice Girls.

1998: Coors Amphitheatre, built at a cost of $18 million by Los Angeles-based Universal Concerts, opens in Chula Vista with a show by Chicago and Hall & Oates.

1999

1999: House of Blues Entertainment acquires the venue as part of its $180 million purchase of Universal Concerts.

2006

2006: Live Nation buys out House of Blues Entertainment, which had been its biggest rival, in a $354 million deal.

2008

In April 2008, the venue was renamed Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre after naming rights were purchased by Cricket Wireless.

2013

A five-year deal that renamed it as Sleep Train Amphitheatre began in 2013.

2018

2018: Mattress Firm files for for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October.

On November 1, 2018, the venue was renamed to North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, as the naming rights were purchased by Live Nation.
