The Oncology Exercise Physiologist will be the foundation of the Miami Cancer Institute exercise physiology program for cancer patients and survivors. This will include individual exercise consults, group education classes, pre and post fitness assessments, and supervised training sessions. Working with the medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists as well as all multidisciplinary team members of the Cancer Institute, the oncology exercise physiologist will assist patient/s with assessments, education, and training to achieve a healthier lifestyle and aid in prevention of cancer or other chronic disease recurrence. The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPA's) will be performing therapies, recording the notes of each visit, and following up with their patients. The SLPA will be empowered to build their schedule with a Supervisor and maintain it consistently. The SLPA will be given the tools (software/program) to facilitate the secretarial needs of their schedules (i.e., confirming appointments), and will be expected to have computer and smartphone literacy for this reason. Some traveling can be expected, as we also offer services not only at our offices but at the daycare centers and schools in the surrounding areas. The SLPA will meet with their Supervisor at least once a month and work on therapy strategies.
