    Job Description Our techs perform immunohematology reference work and consultations for our customer hospitals in a pleasant and low stress environment. In addition to reference work, our techs process samples for outsourced testing; evaluate laboratory data and test results; investigate and resolve process issues; assist with evaluation, validation and implementation of new technology and instrumentation If you are comfortable working independently within established guidelines; are detail oriented; patient and conscientious; and can interact with customers and co-workers in a helpful, supportive way - you'll fit in perfectly here. Duties: Must be detail-oriented and organized with all paperwork. Perform transfusion service consultation. This may include antibody identification with the provision of compatible units. Assist in the preparation of all components, including special components. Performs basic laboratory computer functions. Organize, identify and label blood and blood components with complete accuracy. Assist with all aspects of shipping recovered plasma to commercial vendors. Investigate and resolve product quality issues. Perform and document all phases of batch release including reconciliation, result entry and verification, and quarantine of components. Perform and document all phases of the discard/destruction of unacceptable components. Perform and document all phases of testing, quality control, and maintenance to comply with internal and external agency specifications. Ensures competency of new technical staff through adherence with the Laboratory's Training Program. Work "On-Call" as necessary. Assist in teaching student or student groups in routine production procedures. Reconcile all blood products daily. Promote individual continuing education as deemed necessary; gain/maintain competency in all required lab procedures. Assist manager of technical laboratory in organization and maintenance of written documentation of training and competency assessments. Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a stable work history and a Bachelor's Degree. A certification in Medical Technology is preferred. Candidate can also be a Medical Lab Technician but must have at least six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
