Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Behavioral Specialist II to join our Behavioral Medicine team. In this role, you'll provide direct support, advocacy, and case management services to clients navigating recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community. You'll also serve as a vital part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct client assessments and intake interviews
Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention
Facilitate group therapy and psychoeducation sessions
Support clients with vocational training, housing, financial benefits, and legal advocacy
Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR)
Collaborate with case managers, social service providers, and community partners
Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case reviews
Mentor junior staff and case managers as needed
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and behavioral health regulations
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in human services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Education, Political Science, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in mental health, substance use treatment, or related criminal justice work
Case management or behavioral health intervention experience preferred
Certifications:
Licensure (LPC, LSW, etc.) strongly preferred
Must be a member of at least one professional organization
Other Requirements:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Proficiency in CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed therapy
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong documentation and EHR proficiency

Overview
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is a trusted provider of behavioral health and addiction recovery services in Philadelphia. We deliver evidence based culturally and spiritually responsive care through inpatient and outpatient programs helping individuals achieve long term wellness and recovery.
We are seeking dependable committed and compassionate Addiction Recovery Assistants to join our Behavioral Health team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting clients in recovery maintaining structure on the unit and creating a safe therapeutic environment where clients can progress toward stability and sobriety.
Important: All new hires must be able to attend a mandatory 5-day orientation Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM before starting their schedule. Attendance is required for employment.
Responsibilities
• Provide direct care daily engagement and support to clients in the Residential Recovery Program• Observe document and report client behaviors using paper and electronic charting• Complete vital signs accu checks and other clinical tasks as assigned• Conduct admission searches room checks and personal effects inventories• Monitor urine collections and inspect packages brought onto the unit• Participate in and assist with group activities and community engagement• Escort clients to medical legal and recreational appointments• Assist with serving meals and maintaining overall unit order• Provide comprehensive shift reports and update required communication logs• Support clients with redirection and de escalation techniques when needed• Maintain cleanliness and ensure the unit environment meets safety expectations• Attend required meetings and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required• Working knowledge of 12 Step Recovery Programs• Twelve college credits in Behavioral Health or Human Services preferred• First Aid and CPR certification required within 30 days of hire• Lived experience in recovery preferred• Experience taking vital signs is a plus• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred for select positions
Work Environment
This role requires frequent standing walking bending lifting and direct client interaction. ARAs work in client areas and may encounter individuals who are agitated or disoriented. Outdoor escorts and travel may be required. Knowledge of infection control hospital safety and de-escalation practices is essential.

Qualifications:

Support clients in a residential behavioral health and addiction recovery setting
Monitor client behavior, document observations, and maintain accurate records in Electronic Health Records (EHR)

Monitor urine collection and package inspections
Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery groups and scheduled activities
Escort clients to appointments, court, or recreational outings
Assist with meals and maintain cleanliness of program areas
Provide crisis intervention and utilize de-escalation techniques when necessary
Communicate effectively during shift reports and team meetings
Maintain client confidentiality and safety at all times
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Familiarity with 12-Step Recovery Programs (AA/NA) preferred
