Job Description
Assists with basic patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. Maintains an environment that is safely prepared for patient care. Responsible for attending and phlebotomy services during codes. Responsible for safely and aseptically drawing blood cultures as well as other phlebotomy specimens as directed.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides supportive care to the Medical Surgical and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients under the direct supervision of the nurs
Measures, documents and reports vital signs. Reports abnormal results immediately to the registered nurse.
Assist patients with activities of daily living
Assist patients with blood glucose monitoring
Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when a patient complains of pain.
Receives and carries out instructions accurately and promptly. All patient care activities are delegated and supervised by the registered nurse.
Perform phlebotomy with venipuncture using aseptic technique for collection of blood cultures and other laboratory specimens as directed.
Responsible for ensuring the STAT draws are done timely and accurately.
Attend codes as designated to perform phlebotomy when needed.
Remove urinary catheter and peripheral IVs.
Perform 12-lead EKG.
Alerts licensed staff to patients in emergency or physically distressed situations.
Transports patients, as necessary. Assists with moving, ambulating and lifting patients.
Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
Adheres to hospital policy addressing standard precautions and safety regulations.
Communicates in an effective manner with all coworkers, patients, visitors and physicians.
Responds to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately and appropriately.
Ability to perform waived testing (point of care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory's and the patient care unit's policies and procedures.
Maintains patient comfort and privacy.
Maintains and prepares rooms between patients and procedures.
Monitors stock and restocks supplies as needed.
Adheres to policies and procedures established by the department.
Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a team member; supports and assists the team.
Enhances growth and development through participation in educational programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested within scope.
Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
Attends at least 80% of staff meetings annually.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.
BASIC SKILLS
Basic computer skills
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED
BLS Certification within 30 days
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
Additional languages a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs alone.
May be required to assist with patients or equipment up to 500 lbs.
Ability to walk or stand for up to 75% of the time.
Ability to push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, twist and reach above shoulder level.

Shift Details: Friday-Sunday 3/12's (7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.)
Weekend Program - This position is part of our Weekend Program, which includes a $5.00/hour differential for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.
On-Call Rotation Expectation - This position is rarely expected to have on-call requirements.
Who We Are: Lutheran Hospital is a community-based, acute-care hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. It includes Lutheran Hospice Center and Lutheran Spine Center at Denver West.
Lutheran Hospital began in 1905 as the Evangelical Lutheran Sanitarium, a tent colony for tuberculosis patients. As medical advances diminished the demand for tuberculosis treatment, community leaders decided the center should meet a new need. Community-based Lutheran Hospital, a not-for-profit, general medical facility located on a 100-acre campus, opened its doors in 1961.
Our new Lutheran Hospital campus at Clear Crossing in Wheat Ridge opened its doors on August 3rd. Construction on the six-story replacement hospital started in 2021 and provides a state-of-the-art care site in the West Denver suburbs.
Essential Functions
Maintains American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
Exhibits leadership skills, acts as a mentor and role model, works with minimal supervision, and can provide direction to the team in the coordinator/manager's absence.
Trains and mentors new staff and students. Acts as a lead tech when assigned.
Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
Adheres to MRI safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment.
Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
Assists and instructs students and other MRI Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.
Qualifications:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required
IV Certification within 30 days of hire
Proficiency in 3 of the following areas: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), intra-operative, cardiac, functional, breast, prostate, rectal cancer staging, advanced 3D spectroscopy, MR lymphangiography, or pediatric MRI (less than 15 years of age) as 80% of patient workload.
Must complete at least five cases per specialty procedure with documented skills pass off by a lead MRI technologist or coordinator.
Three years of experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferred

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

As a Limited Scope Radiographer at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:
Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
Is sensitive to the patients' needs throughout the procedure.
Sufficiently explains to the patient and family the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a Practical Radiologic Technologist/Limited Scope Operator in state of practice or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Board Registry Eligible per state requirements.
Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Competency in at least one of the following areas: Chest, Extremities, Spine, Skull, Podiatry, Bone Densitometry (DEXA).
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience in an ambulatory outpatient clinic environment
