Seeking a RN that provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and the general patient population.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plain daily for effectiveness.
Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret results of waived tests; take appropriate action on waived test results.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care of patient's age.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Current RN license in the State of Texas
Current BLS Certification
ACLS Certification within first 90 days
NIHSS certification within first 90 days
Previous MedSurg experience preferred

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility. Additional training requirements for all RNs, which must be obtained within one year from date of hire, including ACLS and one of the following: CALS, CATN, ATCN or TNCC. MDH Trauma Education Training provided on-the-job until TNCC certification obtained.
Requires current licensure as a RegisteredNurse in the state, or states, of practice. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area. Must maintain current BLS certification.

Job Summary
The RegisteredNurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. Collaborates with resident and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Cares for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsible for the coordination of care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions.
May serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to license and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate. Provides adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Shift: NIGHTS (7p-7a)
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, supervisor, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and the general patient population.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plain daily for effectiveness.
Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret results of waived tests; take appropriate action on waived test results.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care of patient's age.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
