Barclay E. Berdan, FACHE, is the chief executive officer of Texas Health Resources, a faith-based, nonprofit health system that cares for more patients in North Texas than any other provider. Berdan became chief executive officer of Texas Health on Sept. 1, 2014, after serving as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer the previous two years. Berdan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and a master's degree in business administration with a specialization in hospital administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Active in health care issues, Berdan served as chairman of the Texas Hospital Association for the 2008-09 year. He received the 2013 Earl M. Collier Award for Distinguished Health Care Administration, the association’s highest honor. Mr. Johnson is originally from Redding, California but has been a resident of Los Angeles County for more than 35 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from Biola University, La Mirada, California, a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, California and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Johnson comes to Watts Healthcare with more than 20 years of experience in managed care, health center operations and leadership in community-based health systems. UHC Solutions of Lake Oswego, Oregon acted as the Executive Search firm facilitating the placement. Mr. Johnson most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of JWCH Institute/Wesley Health Centers, the third-largest federally qualified health center in Los Angeles County.
