The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Activities Technician II implements a variety of evidence-based therapeutic activities with a focus upon the development and maintenance of adaptive skills that will improve or maintain the patient's physical, social and emotional well-being. This individual is responsible for choosing developmentally and clinically appropriate tasks and activities for patients using a variety of modalities such as art, music, games, didactic instruction and physical activities. This individual will assist in assigned direct patient care as appropriate to the patient's physical and developmental age, maintaining a primary focus on a safe and therapeutic environment. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Plans and leads/co-leads the daily recreation-based therapeutic activities curriculum with patients for both and large and small groups under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Services Manager. The activities chosen and implemented will support the patients in meeting their goals in regard to their psychiatric, emotional and social needs. Leads psychoeducational activity groups to assist with managing their specific challenges. These groups will assist with building coping skills and improving social relationships. Conducts Comprehensive Activities Assessments on new admissions and establishes patient specific therapeutic activities treatment goals and interventions on the interdisciplinary plan of care. Documents observations, interactions, care and treatment provided in clear and concise manner and in accordance with hospital guidelines. Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational/leisure therapy interventions. Encourages patient participation in therapeutic/recreational activity programming.Adheres to policies and procedure and demonstrates practices that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, co-workers and self.Motivates patients to participate in activities of daily living and unit program within their physical and mental capabilities. Conducts and completes personal and belonging search following guidelines of procedure with accurate documentation, labeling of belongings, and indicated distribution and storage.Accurately follows directions of licensed personnel.CPR certification.MOAB/CPI certification. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field from an accredited college/university. Skills and Abilities: 1) Ability to communicate effectively with others, 2) Knowledge of psychiatric illnesses as well as the impact said illnesses have on activities of daily functioning, leisure and socialization 3) Knowledge of effective and appropriate recreational and therapeutic activities for patients to engage in while hospitalized for psychiatric illnesses. Experience: One year experience preferred working with individuals in a mental health setting.

Responsible for the collection of patient account balances. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians and staff. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Work may be stressful at times. Evening and Weekend work may be required. Responsibilities * Identifies delinquent accounts, aging period and payment sources.• Reviews each account by computer, reports and other information sources.• Performs collection actions including contacting patients by statement, telephone and letter for all current accounts as well as old company accounts.• Evaluates patient financial status and establishes budget payment plans.• Reviews accounts for possible assignment to collection agency, makes recommendations to Controller and prepares information for collection agency.• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints. • Researches guarantor credit balances.• Assists in answering telephone, routing calls and providing requested information as needed.• Regularly reviews and acts on deceased and no statement accounts per office policy.• Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment.• Participates in educational activities and attends required meetings.• Maintains strictest confidentiality.• Performs related work as required. Qualifications Education Required• High School Diploma or GED required. Education Preferred License, Certification and/or Registration Experience• One year of collection experience. Additional Skills/Abilities• Requires knowledge of medical billing/collection practices. • Knowledge of basic medical coding. • Knowledge of insurance agency operating procedures and practices. • Knowledge of governmental legal and regulatory provisions related to collection activities. • Skill with computer applications and use of calculator. • Ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public. • Ability to communicate clearly. • Ability to work independently. • Knowledge of the organizations policies and procedures. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. • Upholds effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.• Some medical insurance background preferred.
