LabCare Latham is seeking a full time Evening Lab Supervisor to join their team! This is a full time 40-hour work week, 11:30am-8:00pm. The Evening Clinical Laboratory Supervisor assists the Laboratory Manager in coordinating laboratory activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective testing of patient samples. This position supports quality management systems, maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations, and provides supervision and technical support to evening laboratory staff. Responsible for ordering and maintaining all laboratory supplies. Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following: Assists with scheduling, training, and competency assessments of laboratory staff. Participates in hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary action as appropriate. Ensures proper collection, processing, and testing of all specimens per established protocols. Oversees Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Proficiency Testing programs. Ensures Standard Operating Procedure Manuals (SOPMs) are current and signed off. Performs laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology. Maintains detailed records of procedure performance, patient results, troubleshooting logs, and quality control. Reviews and verifies laboratory reports for accuracy and completeness before release. Notifies physicians and nurses of “red flag” or critical results per established policies. Maintains equipment and supply inventory; performs and documents preventive and corrective maintenance. Troubleshoots instrumentation issues and coordinates vendor service when necessary. Ensures compliance with all safety, infection control, and OSHA standards. Maintains a safe and clean work area, properly handling and disposing of biohazardous materials. Participates in continuing education and maintains documentation per NYS requirements. Builds a positive rapport within the organization and throughout the laboratory community. Responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner to facilitate rapid patient recovery. Responsible for maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with CAP, DNV, and CLIA requirements. This position is designated for laboratory technologist that work night shift with the majority of hours worked between 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. This position is designated for a Generalist that may be required to work in up to 4 areas of the lab if necessary (Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and/or Blood Bank). The employee will be required to work in a minimum of 3 areas and be expected to maintain competencies in all areas in which they work. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: ASCP, NCA, or AMT. Meets the requirements of the State of Georgia. Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree Minimum Experience: Other: 1. Successful completion of a full course of study which meets all academic requirements for a bachelor's degree in medical technology from an accredited college or university; or 2. Successful completion of three years of academic study (a minimum of 135 quarter hours or equivalent) in an accredited college or university and the successful completion of a course of training of at least 12 months in a school of medical technology accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education; or 3. Successful completion in an accredited college or university of a course of study which meets all academic requirements for a bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences, and have at least one year of pertinent laboratory experience or training accepted by the Department; or 4. Successful completion of 135 quarter hours in an accredited college or university, including 24 quarter hours of chemistry, 24 quarter hours of biology, and 5 quarter hours of mathematics, (thirty quarter hours of the total, with a minimum of fifteen in science, must be at the third or fourth year level), and have at least two years of pertinent laboratory experience; or 5. Successful completion of a full course of study which meets all academic requirements for an associate's degree in medical technology from an accredited college or university, or successful completion of two years of academic study (a minimum of 90 quarter hours or equivalent) in an accredited college or university which included at least 20 quarter hours of lecture and laboratory courses in chemical, physical, or biological sciences acceptable toward a major in science, with at least three years of pertinent laboratory experience; or graduation from high school and successful completion of a formal technician training course which is accredited by an accrediting agency accepted by the Department with at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience; or 6. Employees who possess the technologist qualifications under provisions (b)1. through 6. above and have recently moved into the state or have recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified once as technologists for eighteen (18) months to afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. 7. Employees who have been continuously engaged as technologists in Georgia since July 1, 1970, are exempt from the personnel qualifications listed above. Persons who initially qualified under this provision but become inactive for two consecutive years must meet current requirements. Provided further, that individuals and laboratories so concerned must meet all other standards of performance required by this law and applicable rules and regulations. Performs equipment calibration and maintenance. Maintains lab records and documentation, entering data into computer system. Consults with Section Supervisor or pathologist on questionable lab results. Reviews and enters daily Q.C. data in computer. Interprets Q.C. data according to established rules and policies calling supervisors attention to any abnormal results. Precepts MLT students as needed. Attends at least 80% of all continuing education programs as established by the laboratory. Regularly provides suggestions for quality improvement in the laboratory.
