Traditional and non-traditional degree programs and numerous on and off
campus opportunities are available at Chicago's Northeastern Illinois
University (NEIU). The divisions of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education make up
NEIU's traditional academics. In addition to the bachelor's degrees awarded through these departments,
a non-traditional bachelor's is also offered in interdisciplinary studies
to working adult students. This program allows those students who would
otherwise not be able to attend college to create a schedule that is
workable for them. Field-based learning and work opportunities are offered to all students
in conjunction with traditional classroom attendance. Other opportunities include the study abroad program, which allows
students to attend an international university for a semester or year. Student life at NEIU is lively, offering cultural and performing arts
events as well as access to student organizations. Since the school is
located in one of the most vibrant American cities, there are also
activities of all types to be found beyond the campus walls. Tuition is substantially lower for in-state residents. Financial aid is
also available to students who qualify. The admission requirements for recent high school graduates are different
than the requirements for older students. It is best to consult the NEIU
admissions office or website for information on what you need to apply. The staff at Northeastern Illinois University come from unusually diverse demographic backgrounds.
