POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the designated Nurse Manager, the Part-Time Staff Nurse is responsible for professional, direct patient care in the nurse role. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process within their scope of practice to assess, develop nursing diagnosis, develop plan of care, implement plan of care, monitor for effectiveness, and adjust appropriately, for patient's plan of care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for care, in areas assigned, within the Surgery Center, as needed. Depending on experience, the starting pay is between $60-$62/hr. The role is on a 8hr shift and a total of 32 hrs per week. QUALIFICATIONS: * Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing * RN with active license, no restrictions. * One (1) year of nursing experience, preferably, in an ambulatory surgery center * CPR certification and/or ACLS-PALS certification * Strong ethical and moral character references * Basic computer skills ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Obtains and documents patient's medical history and perform physical assessment * Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice and center policies and procedures * Ability to apply dressings and assess status * Ability to safely use medical equipment per manufacturer's instructions for use * Ability to insert, assess, or discontinue various catheters and tubes * Effectively organizes and avoids wasteful practices of time, equipment, and supplies * Observes universal precautions * Attends all required education * Regular and predictable attendance * Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: * Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (Bilingual in Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin or Vietnamese preferred) * RN/LVN with active license, no restrictions (license in appropriate state) * One (1) year of nursing experience, preferably, in an ambulatory surgery center * CPR, BLS, ACLS certification (as required by Center) * Strong ethical and moral character references * Basic computer skills Apply Now! ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area Actively assists the Registered Nurse in support of the total pre-anesthesia care process Using two patient identifiers, identifies and validates the patient and procedure to be performed Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the pre-procedure area Provides comfort and reassurance to patient Participates in Site Marking Maintains patient's privacy and dignity Performs safe and individualized nursing care throughout the pre-procedure process Performs Fall Risk Assessment Performs DVT Assessment Monitors patient condition and vital signs and maintains accurate documentation Reports any observed abnormalities to the Registered Nurse Documents the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation of the planned procedure Reviews post-procedure instructions with patient and responsible adult Determines and documents patient and responsible adult understanding of the discharge instructions and indications for seeking emergent care Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management Assists patients attire change (as necessary) Assists with supplies, drugs, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability; maintains order and cleanliness of pre-procedure area(s) Transports patients as needed, observing policies, procedures, and safety requirements Confirms preoperative testing/medical clearance is in patient's medical chart prior to procedure Prepares equipment/supplies needed for care of patients and for performing diagnostics tests Displays knowledge of the requirements for instrument, supply, and equipment maintenance Cleans instruments properly after use and observes policy and procedure for proper care and handling Uses equipment safely following manufacturer's instruction for use Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing LPN/LVN with active, unrestricted state license One (1) year of nursing experience CPR certification and/or ACLS-PALS certification (as required by Center) Strong ethical and moral character references Basic computer skills Apply Now!
