Northeastern University company history timeline

2009

IDEA began in 2009 with strong student leadership and university support, the program was developed to provide resources and support for entrepreneurs across all disciplines.

2012

The campaign was inspired by Richard D'Amore and Alan McKim's $60 million donation to the university's business school in 2012.

2013

The Empower Campaign was launched in May 2013 for student support, faculty advancement/expansion, innovation in education and research.

2015

The goal was raised to $1.25 billion in 2015.

2017

In October 2017, Northeastern revealed that the final total of the Empower campaign was $1.4 billion.
