The Medical Interpreter provides general and Navajo medical interpretation services to assist limited-English proficiency Navajo speaking patients, their families and healthcare providers at FMC. The Medical Interpreter collaborates with other departments and interpreters to assist and support the interpretation services as needed for patient care, family communication and health care provider services. This role assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed via the interpretation services and advises medical personnel of any issues that may impact patient care. This position is responsible for providing patient care and assists health care providers in performing assigned patient procedures within scope of training. Position receives general supervision from RN, APN, PA, or Physician in providing patient care. Responsibilities Patient Care* Under general supervision of the RN, APN, PA, or Physician, performs assigned procedures including, but not limited to: electrocardiogram testing (EKG); wound cleansing; initial, repeat and orthostatic vital sign measurements; application of monitor leads, specimen collection, and transports stable telemetry or non-monitored patients to nursing units, performs blood glucose testing; phlebotomy; saline lock insertion; IV discontinuation *Sets up, prepares patient and assists with patient exam and minor surgical or health procedures within scope of training such as, but not limited to: lumbar punctures; sterile instrument and field preparation, suturing lacerations, chest tube insertion, closed fracture reduction, gastric lavage, pelvic examinations, restraint application, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Communication*Position receives general supervision from RN, APN, PA, or Physician and other appropriate licensed health professionals. Position uses problem solving skills and provides effective communication with patients, patient families, health care providers and ancillary departments within the organization to provide quality patient care. *Provides communication and updates to RN, Physician or other providers related to perceived reactions or changes to patients' condition. Stocking/Supplies* Monitors supply stock levels and reports needs. The Rehabilitation Technician Medical Office Receptionist is a dual role of a Rehabilitation Technician and Medical Office Receptionist duties. Under the direction of the Lead Therapist, Manager, and Director, this position assists therapists in carrying out treatment plans, makes preparations for treatments, and provides direct patient care. The role is also responsible for a variety of day-to-day office and administrative tasks, ensuring that the office operations run smoothly. This individual will serve as an interdepartmental staff liaison between staff, providers and customers to ensure professional service and promote customer relations. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the collection and receipt of specimens, proper entry into the LIS computer, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and the distribution of specimens to the analytical testing areas. Responsible for arranging daily activities based on urgency of requests. This position is also responsible for point of care testing as assigned, and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the clerical aspects of post analytical testing and interacting with others using a variety of communication tools. Must handle bio-hazardous and infectious material while following universal precautions and OSHA guidelines. This position is located in NAH Laboratory Departments only and not in NAH Medical Group Primary Care/Family Practice Clinics. Responsibilities Specimen Collection * Performs specimen collection and patient preparation ensuring correct patient and specimen identification per NAH policy. * Properly labels specimens at point of care followed by the Final Check protocol. * Properly collects blood cultures according to established procedures using aseptic technique to prevent contamination. * Collects blood bank specimens according to blood bank procedures. * Performs infection control techniques, using universal precautions. * Confirm specimen and patient requirements prior to collection. * Ensures specimen integrity by using appropriate techniques as required. (Ex. Protected from light and temperature control.) Processing * Accessions specimens into LIS selecting the appropriate location, date and time of service. * Properly distributes specimens within the lab announcing STAT if applicable. * Uses two identifiers correctly to re-labels, and initial specimens with Cerner generated labels. * Keeps a well organized processing area and correctly prioritizes the upcoming draw times based on the priority of the collection (RT,STAT,TM,ASAP,AM) if working in the main Laboratory. * Manages the specimen pending list through out the shift and communicates follow ups with the next shift. * Aliquots and labels specimens according to established departmental procedures if needed. * Properly plates micro specimens as appropriate. * Checks quality of specimens and takes appropriate actions for unacceptable specimens. * Recognizes and provides input towards opportunities for improvements, to decrease cost, improve productivity, and improve service. * Performs other technical support functions as determined by the laboratory. Computer * Enters data into LIS computer to ensure accurate documentation and billing. * Navigates through powerchart to print out patient requisitions, and confirm timed studies. * Identifies when to do a quick reg, full , or client bill. * Demonstrate the use of each applicable Cerner icons. * Completes documents legibly and accurately per site protocol.
