Responsibilities
Quality Control* Performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes following policies/procedures.
* Prepares reagents, quality control materials and other testing materials.
* Performs required equipment maintenance.
* Assists in data evaluation, and correlation of new instruments/procedures.
* Demonstrates knowledge of open and expiration dates and storage of specimens, QC and reagents.
Computer/Documentation* Demonstrates the understanding of the concept "need to know" for HIPAA for the purpose of relaying information to patients.
* Enters comments, uses RBV for result reporting.
* Calls all critical values to appropriate personnel, using patient full name, second identifier, test name, results and identity of person receiving results.
* Assesses patient results using inquiry and able to print patient reports.
* Recognizes computer problems and reports to IT/ or troubleshoots within capabilities.
* Demonstrates/understands documentation process during downtimes.
* Demonstrates the ability to print and review shift pending reports, notes critical patients or those having testing issues.
Data Integrity* Reviews and records quality control and steps in troubleshooting for acceptability.
* Complies with all protocols, SOPs and regulatory agency guidelines.
* Identifies, resolves problems and takes corrective action in the evaluation of testing procedures, patient results and specimen integrity.
* Performs correct identification of all specimens by matching name, and Medical Record Number.
* Reviews and records patient results for acceptability before verification.
People Management* Assists Manager/Director in writing/reviewing laboratory policies and procedures.
* Assists in training new personnel.
* Assists with preparing/maintaining facility accreditation readiness for CAP/DNV visits.
Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

OR
MLT must be eligible to sit for and pass MT/MLS ASCP, AMT or equivalent boards within 6 months- Required

Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent certification- Required

Overview
POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Technician I:
* Receives and examines alternate resources of claims to assure claims are complete with appropriate supporting documents which typically include utilization review certifications. Responsible for transmission of all third party claims in a timely matter as specified by policy and procedures.
* Verifies accuracy of patient account number, claim amount is authorized, and appropriate regulations, decisions, directives and other controlling guides allow items of services billed. Identifies errors, omissions, duplications in documents and contact the appropriate individuals to resolve problem.
* Searches and abstracts all CPT, ICD9, and HCPCS coding and all other pertinent data from the medical records in order to identify and document appropriate patient care and other information necessary for billing.
* Identifies inconsistencies or discrepancies in medical documentation by notifying the appropriate providers and/or all other departments within the facility for complete charge capture and abstraction. All providers and identified risk departments will follow-up to assure completion in compliance with hospital's policy and compliance program. Keeps this system updated at all times to ensure accurate reports.
* Consults with the attending physician, laboratory, radiology and all other necessary departments for compliance with all the regulations and guidelines pertinent to False Claims Act and Compliance program in preparation for itemized billing.
* Reviews system generated reports daily to identify claims that are ready for billing. Prepares and submits claims to third party payers, intermediaries or responsible parties within 48 hours after all information for billing becomes available.
* Responsible for the error correction for all rejected/suspended claims previously submitted to third party payers and intermediaries and patients according to hospital policy and procedures.
* Responsible for keeping up to date with assigned payer billing rules and guidelines.
* Ensure proper PPE is always worn while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
* Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)
* Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.

Technician II/III:
* Responsible for super-user duties; researching and troubleshooting issues, assist with new system and process implementation, assist with system upgrades and testing, and complete system training certifications.

Position Summary
The Molecular Technologist - Liquid Profiling is responsible for performing various molecular techniques that include, but are not limited to, blood processing and buffy coat extraction, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, equipment maintenance, laboratory inventory, sample tracking and receiving packages. This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies.
Job Responsibilities
Sample preparation, including blood centrifugation, plasma processing and buffy coat extractions.
Performs RNA and DNA extractions for daily molecular testing and ensures correct patient labeling.
Performs molecular techniques such as real-time PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing.
Prepares Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) documents for nonconformance events observed during the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical clinical laboratory testing.
Performs Proficiency Testing in a timely manner and submits results to Supervisors.
Conducts validation testing for new clinical assays.
Tracks, enters, and monitors patient files using the Laboratory Information System.
Maintains laboratory equipment, including completing logs and maintenance, i.e. clean, sterilize, maintain, and shut down laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments used in research experiments, daily and weekly as required.
Follow the laboratory's proce dures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records that dem onstrate that proficiency testing sam ples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and pro cedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Follow the laboratory's estab lished policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable lev els of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and ei ther must correct the problems or im mediately notify the general super visor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, manager or director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Perform high complexity testing under the onsite, direct supervision of a general supervisor as defined in the CLIA regulations.
Accepts other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
We are seeking to hire a Molecular Technologist with varying levels of experience.
Molecular Technologist I - Entry level with Bachelor's degree in scientific field required and may have less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
Molecular Technologist II - 2 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree and/or 0 years of relevant experience with Master's degree.
Molecular Technologist III - 4 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree and/or 2 years with Master's degree.
Molecular Technologist IV-6 years relevant experience with BS; 4 years with MS. Bachelor's or master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Demonstrate skills in technical data interpretation and ability to troubleshoot.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. General working knowledge of the internet for business use, and skilled in operating office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Nucleic acid extraction experience.
Next Generation Sequencing experience
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for biohazards and chemicals, as well as quality control procedures and regulations.
Physical Demands
Will work at a computer some of the time as well as need to keep inventory and ordering records requiring the use of copiers and PDF scanners.
Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.
Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
May be required to handle and/or may have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formaldehyde, xylene, Clorox bleach, DAB and alcohol, which emit fumes. The formaldehyde, xylene, and DAB are carcinogenic.

Quality Control* Performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes following policies/procedures.
* Prepares reagents, quality control materials and other testing materials.
