The Diagnostic/Xray Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures using stationary and mobile radiographic equipment according to established standards. This position provides basic patient care, processes films, maintains equipment, transports patients and prepares and maintains documentation. Diagnostic/Xray Technologist 1 works in the following environments predominately: outpatient, pain/palliative care, children's health, orthopedics, portable and inpatient, and may work in less than three of the following: fluro, o-arm, trauma, operating room and dexascan. Diagnostic/Xray Technologist 2 works in three or more of the following environments predominately: fluro, o-arm, trauma, operating room and dexascan; and may work also in outpatient, pain/palliative care, children's health, orthopedics, portable and inpatient. Responsibilities Patient Care * Obtains patient history. * Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention. * Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure. * Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines. * Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion, * Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures. * Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies. * Maintains infection prevention standards * Explains standard procedures and answers patients questions. * Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment. * Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required. * Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required. * Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals. Modality Specific * Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. * Responsible for appropriate set up of the x-ray room and manipulation of equipment, and proper placement of patient for procedure. * Ensure proper image capture of skeletal structure requested for diagnosis and treatment purposes. * Process and develops exposed x-ray film and creates x-ray CD copies for review and interpretation. Quality * Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. * Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. * Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service. Education * Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research. * Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students. * Works with peers and other health care providers. Compliance/Safety * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility. * If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame. * Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. Qualifications Education Associates of Applied Science or other Related Fields- Required Certificates and Licensure MRTBE, ARRT- Required upon date of hire or within six months of date of hire BLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required NAHPG Clinic-Based Staff (Does not apply to Imaging Clinic): Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire, fingerprint clearance card required within 90 days from date of hire. Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader. Experience One year experience in Diagnostic Radiology - Preferred Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
