Responsibilities Patient Care* Obtains patient history. * Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention. * Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure. * Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines. * Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion, * Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures. * Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies. * Maintains infection prevention standards * Explains standard procedures and answers patients questions. * Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment. * Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required. * Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required. * Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals. Modality Specific* Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. * Responsible for appropriate set up of the x-ray room and manipulation of equipment, and proper placement of patient for procedure. * Ensure proper image capture of skeletal structure requested for diagnosis and treatment purposes. * Process and develops exposed x-ray film and creates x-ray CD copies for review and interpretation. Quality* Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. * Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. * Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service. Education* Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research. * Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students. * Works with peers and other health care providers. Participates in ongoing in-service and educational seminars. * Participates in orienting, assisting, mentoring and education of colleagues and students. Compliance/Safety* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility. * If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame. * Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. Qualifications Education Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology - Required Certification & Licensures Current Radiologic Technologist certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Required AZDHS Certified Radiologic Technologist - Required upon date of hire BLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire Fingerprint clearance card required within 90 days from date of hire. Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader. Experience One year experience in Diagnostic Radiology - Preferred Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Receives patients, explores methods or procedures, positions patients and makes the exposures necessary for requested examinations. Explain procedures to the patient, positions and transfers patients to table for examination. Independently performs standardized examinations, determines the appropriate thickness for technique, and recognizes standard targeting techniques necessary to complete the examination. Performs daily-required calibration tests and recording appropriate equipment errors in the log. Recognizes equipment malfunctions, contacts appropriate Service Engineer, describes problem and communicates the engineer's response to supervisor and other technologists. After repair of equipment, incumbent verifies that the Service Engineer has performed post repair quality control tests, which indicate that the equipment is operating in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and standards. Assists the Branch of Radiology in developing, establishing, and monitoring techniques and procedures fundamental to instituting and maintaining a Radiographic Quality Control program through, (1) Printer monitoring and control, (2) Monitoring equipment performance, and (3) monitoring accessory equipment (ie. PACS Cube, Vitrea 3D workstation). The incumbent is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and updating a policy and procedure manual for this specialized area of the Branch of Radiology Services. * Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination in various examinations. Ensures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters and other required equipment are present and set up.
