Summary: The Operational Technician Specialist collects, cleans, aggregates, visualizes, and reports data used throughout Municipal Services and Operations. These technical duties primarily aim to transform raw data from our water and wastewater systems into actionable insights, reports, and dashboards. This includes frequent data retrieval for staff, frequent detailed data analysis for both troubleshooting plant issues and to demonstrate long-term performance, and intermittent wastewater modeling and simulation. This role recurrently performs technical maintenance of work order management processes, information workflow management, and technical training. Assists with documenting and implementing operational and maintenance requirements for asset management and preventative maintenance. Occasionally assists in the development and implementation of various applied research projects. Reviews data produced throughout Municipal Services and Operations for correctness and completion and helps ensure data integrity across the department. Assist customers with request for quote status, provide assistance to external and internal customers relating to past and/or planned shipments, pricings, schedules, and invoicing problems. The Horticulturist position will be assigned to Park District 1, this position is responsible for performing a variety of turf maintenance tasks in City golf course, parks, municipal properties and right of way areas. Activities including limited mowing, seeding, sodding, establishment of fertilizing and pest treatment programs for highly maintained turf areas, and irrigation management and repair. Maintenance activities include: planting, staking, watering and pruning trees, shrubs, perennials, native plants and flowers; spraying or injecting pesticides for plant/turf health care, and other general park maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to an Associates or Bachelor's degree with major course work in horticulture or related field. Summary:The MSO Field Technologist - Control Systems Techs are responsible for ensuring process equipment for the water and wastewater plants, and associated facilities are functioning properly including maintaining communication, monitoring and control via the plant SCADA system. Responsibilities:Control Systems Techs are also responsible for troubleshooting, configuring and repairing field devices. Installing and maintaining communication and networking systems necessary for integration of remote processors. Working with operations and maintenance in diagnosing issues related to plant processes and motor control centers. Reading, writing and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers and automation control ladder logic. Administration and configuration of SCADA system and associated hardware. Installation and maintenance of various security monitoring and access systems. Additionally Control Systems Techs conduct project based work to design and implement a variety of improvements throughout the facilities. Required to hold on-call to respond to emergencies. Qualifications:HS diploma/GED required, supplemented with training in chemistry, biology, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, process automation, treatment operations, engineering, technology or a related field. At least two years of technical or scientific experience preferred and/or a minimum of one year experience directly related to instrumentation/controls systems and/or operations of treatment plants. Summary:The City of Lawrence is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Master Mechanic to join our team. This is an advanced-level position responsible for performing preventive maintenance and complex repairs on a wide variety of vehicles, rolling stock, and non-rolling equipment in the fleet.Responsibilities: Diagnose and repair gasoline, diesel, and other types of alternative fuel-powered equipment Troubleshoot and service hydraulic and electrical systems Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used Provide technical support and guidance to entry level mechanics and garage personnel Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and departmental procedures This role requires a high level of expertise and a thorough understanding of all procedures and protocols within the assigned area. Master Mechanic I - Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus additional specialized training in automotive and/or mechanical repair. Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in automotive or mechanical repair. Knowledge and skills related to the repair of fire apparatus and emergency medical units is strongly preferred. Additional Requirements: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL); Class B is required, Class A is preferred. An Air Brake Endorsement is mandatory. Must supply personal hand tools adequate to repair most common vehicles or equipment. ASE Master Certification must be obtained within 24 months of hire. Summary:This position supports project management by coordinating key activities such as maintaining project files, assisting with communications, preparing contracts, submitting and tracking permits, monitoring financials, generating reports, analyzing data in project-management software, and collecting performance measures for City projects and programs. The role focuses on facilitating, reporting, and analyzing projects under the supervision of project managers in the Construction Management, Engineering, and Development (CMED) division of the Municipal Services and Operations Department. Responsibilities: • Serve as an administrator of the project management software.• Work with vendors, contractors and consultants to obtain quotes and source materials for projects and programs.• Process, track, and reconcile project and program financial transactions including budget, encumbrances, change orders, and expenditures.• Analyze project data and provide insight and guidance with respect to the project.• Assist in the preparation of contracts for professional and construction services with attention to detail.• Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual project and program budgets, including the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).• Provide support to project managers as needed; create and maintain project schedules, budget, project plan, cash flows and other project documentation; create and maintain status reports with actual costs, summaries and other communication. Qualifications:Associate's degree in business, construction management, or related field from an accredited college or university.
