Overview
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice ( DEIRJ ) Project Coordinator will join the Early Childhood Transformation Team ( ECTT ), at the Center for Early Learning Funding Equity ( CELFE ) at Northern Illinois University ( NIU ) , to design and implement a process to develop a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice Plan for the newly created Division of Early Childhood ( DEC ) within the Illinois Department of Human Services ( IDHS ). About the Division of Early Childhood ( DEC ) In 2019, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared his goal “to make Illinois the best state in the country to raise young children,” and subsequently created the Illinois Commission on Equitable Early Childhood Education & Care ( ECEC ) Funding. Following the recommendations of the Commission, in April 2021, Governor Pritzker announced the creation of a new Division of Early Childhood as part of the Illinois Department of Human Services. The Division of Early Childhood was established to strengthen and centralize Child Care, Home Visiting, and Early Interventions services within the Department. In June 2022, the DEC publicly released its Strategic Roadmap , which includes five interconnected strategic goals to drive system change, prioritized objectives for immediate action, as well as identifies robust stakeholder engagement and a continued focus on equity as priorities cutting across and embedded within DEC operations. The DEC is embarking on Phase II of its road mapping efforts, which includes developing the division's Strategic Plan, as well as its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice Plan. About the Early Childhood Transformation Team ( ECTT ) The ECTT was established by Governor JB Pritzker in June 2021 to lead further investigation of the recommendations that emerged from the Illinois Commission on Equitable Early Childhood Education & Care ( ECEC ) Funding. Established in partnership with Northern Illinois University, the ECTT works closely with the ECEC state-administering agencies, and partners with private philanthropy to enhance our work, relies on the input of advocates, providers, and stakeholders across our ECEC system, and answers to the Office of the Governor. All staff at the ECTT are employees of Northern Illinois University. The ECTT maintains a dual focus on ECEC governance and funding mechanisms as the primary drivers of a more equitable early childhood system. The position of Lateral Police Officer is a responsible professional public safety position with full executive law enforcement authority. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Preventing death or injury and protecting property while preserving the public peace, order and tranquility through the use of sophisticated technologies, aggressive mobile and foot patrols, covert and overt surveillance initiatives and the employment of appropriate investigative strategies. Police officers are, at a minimum, required to function as First Responders and maintain such certification throughout the term of their employment. Cost of initial certification and regular maintenance will be provided by the department, if necessary. Police officers in their capacity as First Responders are required to render effective medical assistance within their level of certification and expertise as may be necessary to ensure the health and wellbeing of anyone requiring such assistance. The fair and impartial enforcement of State criminal, traffic and motor vehicle laws, and adopted edicts from the University Board of Trustees through a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Illinois State Statutes and the University's policies, procedures, rules and regulations and how they should be applied. Collecting information relative to civil and criminal investigations, preparing cases for and providing testimony in court and preparing detailed reports on assigned complaints and communicating the outcomes in formal judicial and informal non-judicial settings effectively, both orally and in writing. Directing motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic, conducting motor vehicle accident investigations, preparing required state motor vehicle accident reports and maintaining complete accurate, articulate accident investigation documents. Engaging in regular foot and mobile patrol activities, responding to alarms, handling emergency complaints, serving warrants as required, engaging in self-initiated police activities and transporting prisoners. Operating and maintaining department equipment in accordance with agency policy and procedures including but not limited to: emergency vehicles, RADAR , LIDAR or other speed measuring devices, breath/alcohol analyzers, mobile computing systems, automated defibrillators and office machines. Performing building security and parking regulation enforcement. Promote exceptional relationships with the university community. The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) at the University of Illinois seeks an outstanding expert to fill a 50% position at the Instructor/Lecturer level. This is a 9-month on-campus position, with up to a 2-month summer appointment possible based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Instructor/Lecturer include the following:
* Lead the development, design, and delivery of the online Masters in Clinical and Community Nutrition and explore opportunities for related online programs (e.g. certificate courses and programs, stackable transcriptable programs, etc.).
* Coordinate with DPD and DI Program Directors to ensure a smooth pipeline for students interested in completing these programs in addition to the MS
* Investigate and implement innovative online educational programs, focusing on factors to consider in strategic decisions, timelines for new-program development, and necessary campus processes.
* Work with campus and college support units to develop and implement strategies for program development, market research, recruitment, and marketing.
* Work with department, college, and campus stakeholders on issues related to policies that are associated with educational technologies.
* Maintain current knowledge in new and emerging educational issues at the pedagogical, programmatic, and administrative levels, and advise the department on how it can respond to strategic opportunities in these areas.
* Understand the strategic, operational and technical needs of the online educational program, and guide the development of departmental policies and processes to support these needs.
* Advise non-degree seeking and degree seeking students in online and on-campus programs relative to the non-thesis MS in Clinical and Community Nutrition and non-thesis MS in Human Nutrition.
* Teaching will be expected, commensurate with expertise.
