The staff is composed of honest people that care about the clients. Everyone I have worked with is an expert in the field. Coworkers are always happy to help each other out. Great training options are available to anyone looking to further their education. Management is always willing to listen to lower level staff suggestions and concerns.
The office hours are strict with little to no exceptions. The work can be very stressful at times. When dealing with the extreme wealth of Northern clients, you have a lot of responsibility and pressure on your plate. Although the clients are all grateful and appreciative, they can be demanding at times.
Northern has great insurance coverage. The vacation policies are generous and get better with seniority. The retirement plans are generous as well. Bonuses are awarded uniformly for job well done and proven commitment.
The people interaction was great. Teams between different areas of the bank worked well together.
The slow pace of decision making. Often decisions were revisited creating a rehashing of research that rarely resulted in significant changes.
The company held a holiday lunch each year that brought people together.

The pay is less than other companies, but the benefits package does compensate for this (pension included as well)
