NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center company history timeline

1968

In 1968 the TAC was expanded to include 16 residents and 16 agency representatives.

1969

In March 1969, 1,200 patients were seen and in May the dental clinic began seeing patients.

1973

In 1973, the program lost considerable federal funding.

1979

In 1979, the Pilot City Emergency Food Shelf began its operations.

1987

By 1987, as Pilot City celebrated 20 years of service, its service area had grown to 16 neighborhoods, 25,950 households, and a Northside population of 66,358.

2000

In November 2000, Commissioner Mark Stenglein, along with his colleagues on the Hennepin County Board, created the North Minneapolis Health Advisory Committee (NMHAC) to look at the health needs of residents of North Minneapolis.

2006

In 2006, NorthPoint was approved for funding as a public entity community health center.

2008

The project was completed in 2008 which included expansion of services into the lower level of the building.

2010

In 2010, the NorthPoint campus became smoke free, leading to other Hennepin County buildings going smoke free the following year.

2013

In 2013, NorthPoint Inc. launched the Mobile Food Shelf to help bring healthy nutritious foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables along with meat and dairy, directly to individuals, particularly home bound elderly residents and people with physical challenges.

2015

In 2015, NorthPoint opened a satellite clinic at the Heritage Park Senior Living Center.

Also in 2015, NorthPoint’s Breathe Free North (tobacco) youth program was successful in lobbying the Minneapolis City Council to restrict the sale of flavored tobacco products to adult-only tobacco stores.

2017

In 2017, NorthPoint opened a satellite clinic at the new 800 West Broadway Center.

2018

Today’s NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center In 2018, NorthPoint celebrated 50 years of providing quality care and services to the North Minneapolis community.
